To make it strong enough it had be plastic against metal as much as against plastic. Normal epoxy glues were not strong enough.

Normal epoxies fail when exposed to heat & vibration...

I discovered this when trying to bodge a temp sensor into a homebrew leccy fan on a MG Midget. Gave up in the end as it run a lot better with a real fan.

As an update to the 2004 mazda 3 story, We wazzed the 1.4 Lupo of much collectioning up past Perth to look at said mazda.

Had a rear arch that was crusty. Dissapointed, we turned wur eyes to the other stock..

Came upon this:

2008 Focus 1.6 pez

110k, full sh 2 owners. Full MOT

we took it round the "handling" course a few times, went well and no obvious issues.

Got them to put a new tyre on the right rear as was low.

£1350 he got it for.. I thought that seemed decent money. Quite a capable car, even if devoid of charm

So it looks like I've got a new job.... with a 60 mile daily commute. So I'm thinking of selling on my Fiesta in favour of something that will cope with miles a bit better.

Odds on that actually happening?

Well done slappy - where abouts? Its always worth looking at less obvious routes to work where you get more enjoyment out of the drive I found. Taking the A32 to Aldershot took longer, but was a lot more fun in the Almera than the quicker but less enjoyable A3 route.

Cheap car.

I thought we did ok.. Time will tell though.

It took me a while to convince him to try bangernomics

The bad news: My Jeep failed its MOT on chassis corrosion.

The good news: A guy from the garage has nevertheless offered me a fraction under what I paid for it.

'OLD OUT YER 'AND.

Winchester, so I've been looking across the back roads to Hambledon and Denmead, which at rush hour probably won't be too different in terms of time between Pompey and there.

My last radiator fix on S90 lasted 2 days.

No option but to change the whole thing.

Used one £50 plus £15 delivery.

New OEM spec £75 delivered.

I think I will have that shiny new one please...

Who supplied that please? The corner on the rad of my 960 did exactly the same thing and I'm looking at new parts before Steel Sealing it up to get to the specialist for an HG replacement - provided the coolant hasn't filled the gearbox.

For all those who moan about GSF/ECP et all, I phoned my nearest Volvo main dealer yesterday and ordered two hose clips for the gearbox cooler pipes on my 1996 Volvo 850 2.5S. The dealer phoned to confirm my parts had arrived. I drove up in the Council Estate to collect the parts this morning and have just been presented with three wheelnuts for a 2014 Volvo V50.

One option to look at would be M27 to J10, then A32 to the junction with the A272 then across to Winchester from there. Vitually always very quiet except for bikes and very occasional tractors and is a pretty nice drive - certainly nicer than the prospect of M27 & M3

Should I make a separate thread?

A work colleague wants to sell his 09 plate Hyundai i10. It has 67k on the clock, MOT till June.

Gearbox "makes a clunk" when put in reverse.

Just had a new clutch fitted.

Other bits:

"Interior is spot on

Extruerior ; nipped n scratched

Two points of damage ; read light housing

And front passenger side door, the frame has a kink where it was crowbarred into"

I reckon he would be happy with something around £500.

Marsden near Huddersfield.

Any takers?

I'd recommend the A272 route, it's not a bad road and beats the hell out of the M27/M3 or the A3.

I use it a lot at work if I'm going up that way and also take my own cars out that way a lot if I'm just going out for a jolly in them.

The M27 and M3 are the worst roads of ever IMHO and best avoided. At least with the A272 the driving's a bit more interesting, it's generally a lot quieter and the scenery's better!

I'd say yes to the new thread.

Get some photos and some more details, whack up a for sale thread, see if you get any bites.

The northwest's foremost vectra botherer has scored. But you will have to wait until Monday to find out more.....

This means the focii is up for grabs.

This. Everytime I get told to take the A272. Everytime I think "meh, the M27 can't be that bad." Everytime, I'm proved utterly wrong.

In other news, the ride in the RAV improves substantially if you put 250kg of sawdust briquettes in the boot.

My tape exhaust repair on the Nippa failed so badly that the exhaust just snapped in two! Mrs DW not pleased as she's heading out tonight. She's had to depart in the RAV4. I can expect a rant about how dreadful it is (ie PAS and too big) later on...

its about that point I say "supply thy own car"

complaints are much diminished

Oh she's grateful. I'll just get it in the neck because 'progress' has utterly ruined cars from her point of view. Just remembered it has central locking and electric windows too. In other words, it's evil. To be honest, she's like Autoshite Plus.

Ok so the current state of play at Ruff's place is;

  • Mrs Ruff's Berlingo payed out on after a Stagecoach No.6 rubbed up it a few weeks back, we took the payout and kept the car as it's only cosmetic damage.
  • Ax VTS now back on daily duties because...
  • The Jumbuck is on the lift with the engine in bits; the headgasket is PISSING oil out, it will be up for sale with a new mot as soon as it is finished.
  • AX VTR is just shit; the engine now runs but it is nothing of the car I used to own really.

In non-motoring news;

  • Mrs Ruff is on the mend from her breathlessness, and on medication for the cause, which is just as well.
  • We have accepted an offer on our house so the merry-go-round of surveys, solicitors and viewings begins.
  • I will now have to tidy the garage out. Oh Shit.

Well, it's a black day in my neck of sunny Oldhamshire. My experiment to prove that not all vauxhalls are shite ended here:

The poor old gal succumbed to the twin horrors of knackered rings and some berk not bothering to replace the timing belt tensioner when the belt was changed 10 months back. (Prior to my ownership)

RIP Omega, you will be sorely missed!

Now the search begins for a cheap automatic, preferably in estate form to get the Basset in...

Just sold my 190e to a lovely young lad from Croydon. He came up with his Da who's an Irish chap and we must have been talking for about an hour and a half.

Anyways... He's picking it up on Friday.

Meantime I can pay off the overdraft and maybe get the acceleration sorted on the 300e which is causing grief when cold.
