Introduced my Sierra to the AS Base.

Seemed to go well. I intend to keep them apart when the red one is in season...God only knows what would happen otherwise.

Sitting another train off to collect another non-work related car. I'll let the buyer tell you what it is if he wants to. This seems to be a regular thing for me during the past few weekends. Don't mind though, it's for shiters.

From next week though for about a month or so I'll be unable to collect anything for anyone as my time is gonna be taken up with other personal stuff.

Boring update of the day: A4's non-working speaker was just a pin that'd fallen out of the head unit.

What a lovely day.

RAV fettling occurred, followed by 2CV chassis prep (mainly degreasing icky bits). Off to a local show in the borrowed Jaaaaag tomorrow.

Didn't realise you have a steam railway at the bottom of your drive. Awesome.

Counting down the days to my three score and ten -(still in three figures) so the memory is probably dodgy but I think my BX had this problem and it was the

Did 451 miles in the diesel PT on 3/4 tank over the weekend and filled up with 44 litres  ..... It is still a very nice thing to drive and is in its element on the motorway with the sun shining, cruise engaged and Johnny Walker on the radio.

Just went over to Keighley and started the Visa for the first time in nearly a year.

It turned over slowly at first with the nearly dead battery from the GT6 and wouldn't catch and I thought its not going to happen, when I suddenly remembered it had a manual choke.

I then excitedly opened the choke and the car started first time.

Get in.

There was a lot of smoke but it cleared soon enough once it was off the choke. I popped it in gear and rolled it backwards and forwards and it moved freely.

It doesn't need to be moved immediately but it is on borrowed time at its current location but I am really keen to get it tested and back on the road.

Problem is, I need to look at the clutch and it will need 4 new tyres as its running winter boots at the moment, which wont be expensive on their own but with everything else, costs are mounting up.

I think I might have to leave it there until it becomes critical and save up some dosh in the meantime or I could just use my Visa card to get it sorted as I really cannot think of a more appropriate thing to use it for.

that is not just any steamy railway - that is the vale of Rhydol railway which was the very last place on Britiish Rail where steam could be found working a full(summer)time table. it is now in the hands of a preservation trust, and, like many small railways (narrow gauge or standard gauge) like that is going from strength to strength.

see, where else could you once have seen rail blue, and the double arrow an a steamer....

and in other news today i think* i may have suceeded in fixing something!!

see the other half's suzi vitara was always running fast, when first turned on. investigations this afternoon pointed to a stepper motor thing plumbed into the vac system, with a finger over the joint and the engine speed dropped.

so, out with the gasket paper, one new gasket rustled up and lo and behold, the idle speed is about, by the sound of it, where it should be.

plus the mini too is idling properly and generally seems to be running better, so all been well we have a new MOT for that at the beginning of next week.

yay! i may have actually fixed TWO things!!

happy dayz!

Quick fleet update for those who are interested:-

Fiesta Zetec-S still behaving itself and getting me to work and back with no issues - the M.o.T is due in the next couple of months but should pass okay.

SWMBO's Hyundai Matrix will be in for it's M.o.T on 11th June and will be offered up for sale as soon as we get a pass on that. I will be looking for a cheap, good 7-seater (Zafira, Galaxy, Alhambra etc), preferably a Diesel with a decent amount of test on it. Budgeting between £1000-£1300 for one of these, so if anybody knows of one going then I'd be very interested!

A few people have said that! My mate Dave is a local mechanic and a mechanic lecturer at the Otley college who knows these cars inside out so I'm dropping it off with him on Tuesday. He says the timings retarded (bit like me) and something about the 95 plug on the bulkhead, he said not to worry about the bill either so fingers crossed he can sort it.

indeedy doodly there is a reversible plug which changes the timing between full fat and weasel piss petrol on gm shit from when we all started going unleaded

Hit Bambi with my Abarth on Saturday morning(2am)  when coming home from work...

Thankfully just cosmetic and I'll be able to replace everything myself. But with it being on finance I need to check what the crack is regarding it all...

For hitting it at around 50mph(give or take), the car held up well!

Typical, I get what will likely be the only brand new car I'll ever own & with less than 3000 miles on the clock I twat a deer with it!

The crack is probably just don't tell them.

Thats the route I'm most tempted by.

Checking ithe paperwork and such first though, Don't fancy getting shafted when I hand the car back or put in it for service and they manage to know somethings not right. (but it is Arnold Clark the cars from, so likely would't even have a clue)

The good news is, means I get to spend more time with the LS400!

Sorry OMEGOD. My drive now has my modern Mazda 5 , a rover 75 and my Japanese import hiace on it. People keep advising me has to which car should go. Luckily the enemy isn't that bothered at the minute so they all appear to be staying. However woman have been known to change their mind occasionally.you have my sympathy.

Sadly not, when I tried to finish the job  get insurance details, Bambi he did a runner...

All that's left on the road (Belhelvie- Ellon back road) is some plastic trim and deer shite on the road.

I thought the rule was, if you hit it you leave, if you find it, fair game.

If it's an Arnold Shark, I definitely wouldn't bother.

A friend of the mother that I'm very familiar with and their partner both bought brand new Fiat 500s off them, a Lounge for her and an S for him. Cash. Neither are car savvy, just fashionable so I dread to think what fettle they'll be in come first MOT...

That is correct.

However there are also rules about how fast you can drive on a motorway and rules about MPs expenses...

did the 'gold resistor' mod on the 75 yesterday.

went surprisingly well and low-speed fan now restored. so it doesnt sound like a train any more.

i wonder how many late-Rover 75 owners are even aware of this issue and just live with the noise?

Its a sunny bank holiday and Dave and I braved the traffic to go over to Bourenmouth to look a a car....

Its a White wedge shaped convertible from the 1980's, Its got no brakes and terminal head gasket failiure But is MOT'd till October.... so naturally he bought it!

1.jpg

I'm co-financing it on the condition it does not come to live in my life, at least until the blue rebel van sells!   There will be a collection mission to bring it to the IOW sometime soon, The seller has agreed to hire a trialer to drop it off at the ferry terminal, The plan is to drive it on and off the ferry and probably to then get it towed once its on the Island. Its not caplable of being driven for longer than 10 minuites though withought chucking mayo over the ground!

Looks like one of those Reliant convertible things I can't remember the name of. Very wedgy and a bit shite too.

Yes its an SS1! Oigionaly a 1300cc its now got a 1.6 in there. Its got a few nice bits with it Including adjustable AVO shocks, Roll Hoop, Galvanised Chassis and a Rare Hard top.

ZING!

I saw one of them at the classic car thing at Crathes yesterday. :D

I see why it has OMGHGF. There's no airflow to the engine because of that stupidly placed spare wheel! :P

I find myself wondering what vital function that coke can is doing too.

Not me. Does it remove the noise of a cross channel ferry parking up in my drive?
