I used our Kitchen Blackboard wall to plan out what is needed..

Currently sitting on laptop pricing up bits.

The first 3 in the list are

My Clio 172 Exclusive

The Burd's Clio 172 Exclusive

The ph2 Clio 172 of much gearbox fixage

And the 335i is off to a specialist to sort the running issues/MOT requirements as it's just not right.

- Get 2cv paint tidied up,mot, sell.

- Use lotus more often in the summer

- Replace headlining on p38

- Commission an architect to design house extension (replace 1988 wood conservatory that is at least 20 years past the expected working life)

I can imagine the last will be easier that the other three, but the first has to happen before the builders start on the last.

Get the Mercedes MOT'd (and prepare myself to have to pay to get a few things I haven't noticed sorted)

Get the Monet Goyon sorted and source a few missing bits (headlight glass, rear light, stator cover) and resist tarting it up.

Find the time to learn to weld, both arc and mig-a friend has offerred free instruction until I am of an "acceptable standard" (he is a great welder, so I imagine this will take time)

Not to buy any more motorbikes, and to get rid of two of my twist 'n go scooters.

Make proper plans to buy a bike in NZ before I go there in 2019 and tour round for a couple of months, selling it when I leave.

I met a 2 people in NZ who has brought bikes with them for the big tour both on big trailies might be with looking into if you have something suitable.

Also I need to accept that I have to look after myself now - I have a medical condition that requires regular treatment for the rest of my life.

Oh, and no.more modern vauxhalls.

New job and lack of annual bonus may affect some of my list, but hopefully......

1) Get full exhaust system, set of four tyres, refurbish wheels and have some minor bits of bodywork done on the Sunny before it goes too far downhill. It's such a clean car that's good fun to drive and I should treat it with more respect. May tentatively try and sell it if I knew it was going to a good home, but the way prices are going for 1980s cars I doubt I'd get something as good to replace it.

2) Get rear wipers working on Camry estate, have some minor suspension/steering squeaks and clonks sorted and continue to enjoy using it. Getting that one back on the road in 2017 was a major achievement. It also needs a bit of body- and paintwork, but not sure if I can get that done in the same year as the Sunny. Take it on a trackday or two - as a leaving present I got bought a voucher to use at various MSV tracks plus it needs to be used at Marham (it should have been there last year but I took the Laurel instead).

3) Enjoy MoT exempt status on the Datsun 1200. But, knowing what it's like, it will still take a trip to my local garage for a lookover. Keep using it now its car issues have been sorted and (touch wood) it's running well.

4) Keep using the Laurel. It's T&Ted and waiting for better weather.

5) Attend more shows, runs and other events as hopefully there'll be less work to do on the house in 2018.

No definite plans to replace any of the above, they continue to give me a pleasing variety of driving experiences. I'm another one keen to get a Mk4 LS400, but I don't know which car I'd sacrifice to make it possible. Avensis daily will probably be changed for something else, but sadly I'm not sure if the Lexus would be quite what I need for that role.....

Wartburg- use and enjoy

Merc 180- derust and paint all 4 door bottoms. Previous experience on these suggests it's more surface grot than anything else

LDV 400 V8- awaits a full appraisal but sort the ignition lock, and tidy up the primered bits of bodywork, get some practice in looking suspicious in lay-bys/ fly tipping spots etc.

 annual bonus

Nope, I recognise the words in isolation but the concept of them together means nothing.  In fact although I'm aware of the general meaning of the second word, it seems to be something that doesn't apply to reality.  Please explain?

Only way out of shit job situation is to take a big pay cut, to about what I was on in 1990.

So I am back looking for a big V8.

Hummmm. I have a list of resolutions, some go back to about 1990....

In automotive terms I have basically one, stop fannying about and get to work on the Saab 96.

I spoke to the chap with the kit car today, while walking the dog.  Apparently it's a Pilgrim, a 1980s kit using Morris Marina parts.  He's going to dive into the restoration in the spring/summer, because that's when he retires.  Oh and he also has a Moto Guzzi 1000 hidden away for restoration.  I often see him going to work on his regular bike (sorry, no idea what it is).

Scrub my previous post, I think that I have decided that faffing about with my hopeless old tat is no longer fun.
