It's either that or this: LOK705P remains on the DVLA database - it was first registration April 1976 but is recorded as untaxed since April 1988 - so most likely no more. Matty 1
centre patrimoine le auto Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 Do you remember that paris 1970 photo archive? I absolutely love it. https://paris1970.jeantho.eu/ Ive been scouring it for a photo with a panhard dyna x in it. Havent found one. They were only about 16- 20 years old at the time. IIRC they only made about 50k but they seem extinct in paris 1970. Battered dauphines / 4cvs galore- but the Dyna seems to have been a rarity even then. I was there in 71-72, and that archive brings it all back. Panhards were very rare. There was in fact a back street garage near where I lived which seemed to be a Panhard specialist, with dead cars out in the street and I think that's the only place I might have seen a Dyna. Some friends did rock up in a PL17(?) one day though. I should have paid more attention, but I was young.... Oh for a time machine! Matty, bangernomics, privatewire and 1 other 4

wuvvum Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Best of luck with the Vel Satis. The 3.0 dCi is an absolute clusterfuck of an engine, but they're a nice thing when they're working properly. lesapandre 1

I had been wondering whether there’s some AI facility that could be given a picture of a vehicle then asked to trawl through all the images on the website and pick out any matches. If there’s a Dyna X in there somewhere, I reckon it’s more likely to be hiding out in the suburbs. Matty 1

centre patrimoine le auto Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 Been on a wander through some of the more gritty Parisian outskirts - lots of decaying chod but no dyna-x mk2_craig, DSdriver, privatewire and 3 others 6
D.E Posted June 19 Posted June 19 They do seem rare in period pictures, even if you cheat a bit by searching the net for slightly older photos of Paris traffic it is a struggle to spot a Dyna X. Two in 1958: centre patrimoine le auto and DSdriver 2
Mr Livered Posted June 19 Posted June 19 @D.E I'm enjoying this automotive Where's Wally but it is getting a bit frustrating now... are you saying you reckon there are two Dyna X's in that picture?

centre patrimoine le auto Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 There are few dyna -z ‘s about- here on a scrap pile. ive even seen a lamborgini espada but no dyna x DSdriver 1
D.E Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I wonder if the alu bodies would have been a strong incentive to scrap them? I've now found several pre war models still roaming the Parisian streets of 1970, but not a single Dyna X. DSdriver and centre patrimoine le auto 2
wuvvum Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I hadn't realised the Ami Break got the 2CV tail lights that early on. mk2_craig 1
centre patrimoine le auto Posted June 21 Author Posted June 21 Its been fascinating continuing to look around some of the more gritty, often quite run down and semi commercial areas in the outskirts. I decided a 20 year old banger would be more likely found festering there than on the champs elysses. I love that snapshot in time that we can look into. But no dyna x still. Mr Pastry Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Well, that photo archive is quite scary. This is where I lived. Not my R4, but if it was, that is exactly where I would have parked it. I wish I could remember where that back street garage was. bangernomics, loserone, High Jetter and 4 others 7
centre patrimoine le auto Posted June 24 Author Posted June 24 In the end I cheated and looked back to 1953… Meanwhile ive just completed a 400 mile trip in the vel satis - On a worryingly hot day it kept me ice cold inside with the cruise control on and the trip computer got a bit of heatstroke.. That was about half way in. I didn't brim it to start annoyingly with but I did go easy on this 24yo frenchie- and whatever the actual figure on the trip its certainly being pretty economic for a 3.0 v6 turbodiesel automatic. Into the red: But the VS was in its element cruising and chilling. mk2_craig, privatewire, Westbay and 27 others 28 2
centre patrimoine le auto Posted Saturday at 17:34 Author Posted Saturday at 17:34 Went up north in it. Got lost (ended up in denton burn- viewers of 90s teen drama byker grove may recall they were the local, rival youth club to Ant and Decs) Currently visiting my university city (leeds) i was there after the industry had vacated the wharf side and docks were i lived amongst ruined and or derelict warehouses for a few years.. And since then its all been redeveloped. Im staying in one of the redeveloped bits. Feels wierd! Although the car park has a nice industrial vibe to it… VS has been great- for a 24yo french car ive been blown away by how powerful the a/c has been, and admittedly ive been pottering and keeping the boost low but its nudging high 40s mpg (the trip computer says even more but i dont believe it 😂) Kringle, beko1987, Fat_Pirate and 20 others 22 1

centre patrimoine le auto Posted Sunday at 18:17 Author Posted Sunday at 18:17 Made it back, the vel satis was brilliant- i wanted to not say too much on the route but it lapped it up and had one warning light- low washer fluid 🇫🇷😎 Parked up opposite the (now demolished) tetley brewery.
