What do we reckon to........

PT Cruisers.

Yes, I know. They are pretty cheap at the moment but they look comfy, have a bit of space inside and maybe, just maybe, it is an itch to scratch. maybe. Don't hate me.

Pro's AND cons would be handy, and any appropriate links too.

Engine bay is a bitch to work on on a 2.0 petrol. Felt like cutting out the inner arch to change alternator. The same 2.0 was very thirsty, underpowered and handled like a boat with very dodgy electrics. Maybe that one was fucked but thats ill i can go on!

...clickbait thread titles?

About as likeable as a not-'57-Chevy-Confederate-flag-Elvis-lives-giffer-tricket-miserable-missus-ugly-dog PT Cruiser.

I think they are solid gold shit.

No E.

Definitely buy one.

Just beware of selling all your old shite cheap, only to replace it immediately with more cheap shite.(Rinse and Repeat)

I think they are great things to stick every plastic chrome thing on so it looks like you've ram raided Halfords so everyone* will be fooled that you actually have a 600bhp hotrod

If you like wearing a drape coat, drainpipe trousers and crepe soled shoes, they're fine.

I really don't like these at all and I think this is a view shared by many. However, this site is about the unloved isn't it? I think it's the image that puts me off rather than the car itself. I suppose they're pretty cheap now for a scenic sized car.

I think it's the fact that they are revered, rather than unloved by the people that still have them that's a sticky point. Still, they're not doing any harm

I wear all the above and drive every vehicle I own whilst wearing them.   I still wouldn't buy a Cruiser although lots of my friends do, I grant you!

I think it's the in-thing to hate them on here. Personally, I really like this van conversion done by a fella on the blue forum. Derv daily business driver as well. I'd happily drive it.

I was just about to mention the Van conversion, looks amazing as a van.

Start to make it into a van, then give up and crush it. (Actually this happens fairly regularly as far as I can tell from looking at eBay)

Whether you like the looks of the PT Cruiser or not is a matter of personal taste and can thus not be discussed.

But if you like it and hence contemplate to buy one, be warned!

You have to be content with the lamest, gutlessest, sluggishest, lifelessest slow coach ever devised by humankind.

It is powered by yawns. It can't pull the sausage off the plate. It's woefully phlegmatic. There isn't a term invented

yet to appropriately describe its ineffable torpidness.

So I disagree with the wearing drape coat, drainpipe trousers and crepe soled shoes thing entirely.

It's much more appropriate for the grey cardigan with grey creased trousers and padded moccasin wearing bromides.

They should have called it the PT Snoozer.

Nope.

Pure Mopar Performance* or Mercedes in case of EU tar burners.

Were they Renner powered, they'd go like stink.

My view, as a past owner, seems to be at variance with the replies so far!  Mine was a 2002 petrol 2.0 and suited me quite well.  What I would say though, is be ready to replace front suspension bushes on a regular basis.

I'm defending the Cruiser here. At least Chrysler tried. All this boorishness over them being crap.

No, THIS is crap. More crap than a faded red scrapyard 3 cylinder Vauxhall with a sea of grey plastic trim.

If I didn't have to follow another at sub 15mph again, it wouldn't be soon enough. Pure vomit.

Designed purely with death row in mind.

Bought purely because 'it'll do'.

Sold to another grey/beige because 'it'll see me out until I die'.

Car mechanics own Ted Connolly had a couple and like them but petrols are thirsty, parts expensive and they are are as desirable as a "Jim fixed it for me" badge.

They're considered sporty little cars in America

Go to an owners club meeting before you buy one, this is important as they are the only people who'll ever talk to you again.

My mate had one for a while. I was uninspired before hand it's fair to say but working on one made me want to put every one in a crusher. They really are not nice to work on Ken and will cause you stress sooner or later.
