Spottedlaurel
Seller of the Sierra says... "Wax oiled treated in 1986 and exposed parts frequently since then". Not sure if I wish to knew that... I can't imagine they were much quicker than a 2.0 Ghia, just make a nicer noise and give the option of dropping in a 2.8/2.9 Essex. Can't ever remember many from when they were new(ish), a gold auto one at an Ipswich dealers in about 1991 and that's it.

Pete-M
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1983-FORD-SIERRA- ... 0307482650Hooo-hoo!Oh dear. I mistakenly bought one of those years ago. Y reg with hugely '80s velour everywhere. Comfy, but the auto'box was a complete disaster in it. The A4LD isn't normally that bad, but with the 2.3 it was hopeless - that may have just been my one though, I only paid £250 for it in about '92. Oh, they were slower in reality than the 2.0, but quite a bit torquier. The Cologne lump only ever seems to work properly with injection, in my experience. CortinaDave
mk1 ghia sierras are fantastic cars. stupidly comfortable and with a great selection of 80's computer stuff on the dash to look atI'd have another in a second but im a skint boy just now! Nice as that one is ( with uber rare headlight wash too!) i dont think he'll get 875 for it, they just dont seem to fetch the money which is a shame.I'd prefer it with a pinto tho, with the v6 you're as well to rip out the 2.3 and put a 2.8 in as the fuel cons are about the same but with far better performance.2.3 always struck me as a bit pointless tbh. similar power to a pinto with much worse fuel cons... hmmShouldn't it be wearing a set of pepperpots rather than the aero wheeltrims on a ghia? Spottedlaurel
I'm sure Ghias back then were fitted with trims, standard-fit alloys came later.
Richard
Yes, these are special Ghia wheel trims. Only the Ghia got 3 slots.
CortinaDave
THREE slots eh? no wonder people were willing to pay so much extra for the ghia to get that extra slot to lord over the neighbours. the pepperpots must have come in fairly soon after 82 though surely? I've taken a notion for a Sierra again now. even nice xr 4x4s are in the 500 quid bracket.Reckon i might have to punt my x reg saab soon for a nice shitey sierra.. Milford Cubicle
Those giant Japanese 4x4s are wonderful! The Land Cruiser is especially buff.I am finding being saddled with dodgy Tigar tyres and 2wd the least good in the snow - if only I could find a car-sized 4-wheel drive with a diesel engine at shite money. Albert Ross
Reckon the Land Rover has the wrong bodywork on it. S3 wings and Bulkhead, Post 1969 Military bumper, Ill wager it has a later chassis too................Seems to have the Salisburyrear axle from the "broken" military 109 he got for spares, and the rear tub, and it also has S3 Door tops with plastic locks on the lower channel.....................Might not have much in there from the 60s methinks. Except maybe the identity.

Richard
Another early Sierra.
