Tadhg Tiogar Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 CX pseudo "cobra head" shift. And no marks showing what position it's in: Six-cylinder, SierraMikeHotel and michael t 3
SierraMikeHotel Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Double Mercedes content. It's really wank, but I love the emblem embedded in the top of the shifter. This is actually where the thing ought to be. With modern technology it could be anywhere in the car - so let's have it literally at your fingertips. Both cars have pointless flappy paddles.
Asimo Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 That V5 Bora from the eBay thread yesterday. A briar pipe with a 13mm socket in the bowl? SierraMikeHotel, robinmasters, Pillock and 5 others 8
Honey Badger Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Behold my shiny knob. Stock photo so not my actual car, my RX is the same just with a fine layer of filth and 300 Aldi car park tickets scattered added
warren t claim Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The natural place for an automatic gearbox selector lever is on the steering column. D Spares & Tyres, eddyramrod and SierraMikeHotel 3

iainrcz Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 This had an auto box.And the shifter looked like this Sent from my VFD 710 using Tapatalk w00dy 1
NorfolkNWeigh Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Took a bit of head scratching and fiddling with the mouse thing until I spotted the gear selector in one of these the first time I drove it. To my knowledge the only car to copy the Mopars of the 50's and 60's Although, no doubt someone knows better...
Supernaut Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 At the other end of the scale... My friend's 2005 Suzuki Alto automatic. michael t 1
MorrisItalSLX Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The Leyland P76 had provisions for left hand drive mounting, on a car that was right hand drive only. The same T-bar featured on the Aussie spec Marina. michael t 1

JimH Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Automagic? No not me. I'm definitely a manual... You ain't seen me, roight.

Tadhg Tiogar Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Do you not have gear position lights on the dash? This is my S1, but I thought S2 had position lights as well? Indeed it does, in a slightly unusual place because avantgarde design*.....
iainrcz Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 My word, that's a lot of buttons.Yes, and I only remember using the gearbox sports mode button and seat heater dial. Oh yeah for extra points, the gear lever had an orange "mood light" ring in it. I actually miss that car, it was comfy and went like a bastard. Sent from my VFD 710 using Tapatalk SierraMikeHotel 1
davehedgehog31 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 At the other end of the scale... My friend's 2005 Suzuki Alto automatic. I cannot possibly imagine how slow that car is. The one I had with the same engine and five speed manual, you had to seriously wring it out. I had to drop two cogs to get up the hill on the M77 heading out of Glasgow at 55. Also, the road tax for mine was £30, the auto with same engine is £190. Supernaut 1
Asimo Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 We've had this already, but the image link is dead and it's my all-time favourite - the BMC landcrab. At the other end of that control is a Borg Warner 35 'box. adw1977, Lacquer Peel, SierraMikeHotel and 1 other 4
Guest Hooli Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Has anyone ever driven an automatic with the +\- ‘manual’ mode and it not been utterly dreadful? Flappy paddles in my old Saab worked well for hoonage. Pretty instant change & meant I could make it hold gears correctly for corners.
PhilA Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Because you need your gears to be in the order NDLR instead of PRNDL for added joviality. Phil
pandamonium Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Drove a 2005 Transit automatic a few years ago, it was horrid. Check out the "shifter" (Steering wheel and dashboard) w00dy, Lacquer Peel, SierraMikeHotel and 1 other 4
Guest Hooli Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 The correct style of autobox shifter. J-gates are so natural to use I've no idea why other makes persist with inferior layouts. Royale80 1
