Anymore Bluebird Lickers?

Forgive the thread but this popped up on a local Liverpool facebook page for £250, been stood 2 yrs but only 68k and apparently was ok when parked up, has Dollywobbler started a new movement ? Interesting roof rust !

FWD. They drive nicely.

 

I've had a GS, very plush inside and they're still several models down from the top of the range.

Blue birds are great cars. They always used to a good banger buy as they're pretty much indestructable.

My father had a light blue bluebird, saloon version mind. I loved the boxy look, and the soft touch buttons on the stereo. Pretty sure it never broke down on us either.

Very solid and tidy car, it ended up selling through AS to Craig Cheetham for far too little money and I wish I'd never sold it as a few months later I needed another cheap car.

Bluebirds are one of those cars I've never owned but have always fancied, part of me still thinks i should have bought that blue D reg 1.6LX that i posted a couple of days ago in the ebay thread.

They're good cars. Very robust. They feel like tanks, which is why so many got bangered. Hardly the last word in excitement, but then that's true of a lot of Autoshite. They also have an actually-functional automatic choke. I like that.

I think I`m gonna out my estate, I`m not getting the time to finish it & not being able to find basic parts like lights is starting to really wind me up.

Its a perfectly good automobile, did 250 miles in 1 day with the family a couple of weeks ago in it, youngest loved the reclining rear seats, but its just not `me`..

Loving the Bluebird revival on here. Brought back random memories of my parent's friends Bluebird. It seemed so odd - and luxurious - among the British tin my parents and others were trundling around in.

 

And those vents on the rear quarters...

I had an 86 sr turbo in two tone blue and silver it was great fun to drive went well and handled fairly well. just impssible find parts for.

 

 

the interior was cool the seats had nissan embossed in them, and the dash was very 80s with an orange grid pattern.

Did you buy that from a young lad in Buxton? Or possibly when he was in Uni in Preston? I think I use to know that car.

When we passed our tests in the early 00's, a mate had use of his dad's F plate 5dr ZX Turbo 'Executive'. We thought it was uncool at the time, but it spanked everything we came up against, when he revved that chocolate CA18DET out.

Ive been lucky enough to own one or two Blueys, or derivatives

 

Brought to them by Ratdat, with a lovely little 4 series, I marvelled how good a mid 60s saloon can be.

 

 

It was the sole cause for a subsequent addition a slightly later rhd version i imported from Melbourne.

 

 

 

Some of you may recall the outcry when it was knicked off my drive-  recovered 2 days later because it became too hot. It  had already been entered for a banger race in Norfolk - so a very lucky escape.

 

I then added an earlier 65 320 crewcab in totally untouched original condition -just needing recommissioning.

 

 

 

That was a great old tool, a proper workhorse,  I still regret selling it to an avid Belgie- although I did import 2 more for him, for immediate added profit. Neither as nice as this though..Miss it

 

I moved a little more 'modern' with a late 80s U11 SSS

 

 

 

This is still quite quirky, with pillarless B pillars (masked by the hanging seatbelts) yet a 4 door. It has an 8 plug head with twin track distributor cap/rotor arm -quite bizarre. Q

 

The turbo makes its a quick little toy -but Ive no real need right now so rsting quietly

 

Finally another Oz version - the 90s Pintara (ex Wuvvum of this parish). Its a high mileage base level outback saloon, always starts, reliable, no fripperies whatsoever. 

I often use it as a towcar...I'm not aware of another in the UK- but you may know better?

 

 

 

Pictured here collecting another Yugo & Samara . Its a stalwart, never complaining, always willing. 

 

Would I have another? Definitely.

Hey Nigel is your U11 likely to be this one I knew of about ten years ago? It was owned by the fella who ran the ZXOC and who's name I forget. There can't be that many U11 SSS-X Turbo pillar-less saloons in the UK!

Mk2, They do predate Datsuns initial uk foray, yes. I think Datsuns very first cars arrived in 69 - although those more knowledgeable than me may differ.

 

Rusty, Does indeed look like mine- I'd be surprised if there were 2! Mine was registered (& will return to) E448 JOO. It was in a shocking state when I got it.

I am used to typig SR20DET when referencing chocolate Nissan's.

I lived in Western Oz for a bit with parents, when I was a kid. Also had (have) extended family out there. My uncle had a beige R30 Pintara.

 

I never thought there would be one over here.
