tooSavvy Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Anyone Tyneside know of the MkI Capri, red with a rear 'clip on' slatted black louvre blind? Just smoked up Station Rd. Seems to have an obscured rearplate >> I couldn't read it! TS
Ghosty Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Quite a lot for today on my run to Birmingham and back: -TVR V8S on the M5-Sherpa camper outside a house on the A34-Capri mk3 in Hazel Grove-Sterling coupe in the middle of Birmingham-Volvo 240 estate festering outside a house on the A34 with various bits of trim missing-205 passed me while I was outside Aldi in Stafford-ish-mk2 Scirocco somewhere in Stafford too-Corrado VR6 in Smethwick and in Stafford Asda car park, all at once:-406 estate in a dark gold colour with a beige interior-a T25 and three T3 Transporters having a dubbermong meet-a Ford Popular (the long nose version!) GrumpiusMaximus Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Pissed off at the lack of pictures from today's two spottings: A lovely, lovely, lovely A-reg XR3 in dark green, with chrome fittings. Looked absolutely mint. Will probably go past again soon. A 68-ish (so my partner's Dad said) Vauxhall Victor in black. Again, a minter. I'm moving to just around the corner in June (waiting for our house to be built...) and it was parked in a car port, visible from the road. So will definitely try and get a picture soon... Also just remembered: My Golf gets serviced by an Alfa/TVR specialist near Canterbury (they're great). They're next to a high-end bodyshop so I see all kinds of interesting cars there all the time. The other day I took my Golf in and lo and behold! An original Ford GT40 being put up onto a trailer under its own power. Seriously. Spoke to partner's Dad (who is a car nut) and he's seen it there before. Turns out that it's a hobby-built GT40 (done properly) using all-OEM Ford parts, essentially as a CKD. Although it's not 'officially' a Ford because it was built by somebody else, Ford have sanctioned it to be registered as such because it's all Ford parts and put together properly. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a picture. Performance cars aren't my 'thing' but I thought an original GT40 was a pretty good sighting.
bramz7 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Taken a few photos in Brighton this afternoon but annoyingly I missed out on a 405 STI in burgundy, it looked tidy enough under the late winter road muck.
tooSavvy Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 J reg White Corolla, parked just along the road from Tesco Batley. Only mention it as ONLY J spotted in/round Leeds this week TS
Split_Pin Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Whilst travelling to Uni on the train to Glasgow 20 years ago it used to pass this rural house which appeared to have been a small school at one time. It caught my eye because all the blinds on the front windows were perfectly aligned and the white mk3 Astra never seemed to move. I moved quite near that house in 2011 and over the past 6 mintjs I noticed that the Astra was still in the same spot and slowly turning green the house also looked run down so today I took a drive past. The house is indeed quite diwn at heel and my wife saw a little old lady at the window. The Astra K528ELS has been off the road since 2011. It still looks tidy and original.
Supernaut Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Spotted a mark 1 Land Rover Discovery with a pickup and 6 wheel conversion going the other way just next to Thainstone today. It was bright blue. I also saw an immaculate white Morris Minor traveller on St Machar Drive in Aberdeen on Friday while at work.
AlabamaShrimp Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Bond Bug J reg last week in Wakefield. Just too slow to get a picture.
strangeangel Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Arriving to collect the camper after having its service on Saturday, I was delighted to find it parked behind a Citroën DS!
mercrocker Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 On the A36 yesterday. Going shopping with Mrs Rocker in the Fiesta because Salt. Spotted a Thirties Humber Vogue pillarless as I waited on a roundabout. Same as this, same colour too... I felt a bit of a wimp, tbh....
Ghosty Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Spots of the day: -Jaguar XF, with a load of stick on tat and randomly placed stickers, middle of the bonnet etc. It had a fucking GT wing on the bootlid. -cooking 2004ish Audi A3, with a cutout and riveted on ally plate bottom centre of the rear bumper, and a motorbike silencer poking out. It passed me 2 hours later, revealing the bike can wasn't connected to anything. -heard something humming along and thought 'what's some idiot put a fart can on?' it was a grey 405 estate lowered on 17" wheels from a 206 GTi180. Wonder if it had an engine swap as there was some sort of red and white badge on the back where the trim level badge would have been? GrumpiusMaximus 1
GrumpiusMaximus Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Multiple today. I even text myself as a reminder. The good (bad) stuff: Modern Rolls-Royce Phantom.Rolls-Royce Corniche (more like it!)Audi R8 in whiteAudi R8 in blue The shite (good) stuff: 90s silver Subaru Impreza (unfortunately driven by a twat in the wrong lane, had to take avoiding action)Rover 100 in dark greenLight blue Cityrover This was all in fewer than 25 minutes of actual driving in and out of Ashford down the A20 to the supermarket. It was a good haul.
DVee8 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Ford Escort Mk2 4 door in solar gold heading north on the A1 this aftenoon
AlabamaShrimp Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Friday was behind a very slow 306 which made me think I hadn't seen one in ages when a yellow Fiat Barchetta went the other way. Dave_Q 1
bramz7 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Loads of old tat in Bristol this morning. I swear you could make a fun day out roaming the streets there for crud. Maybe I should. N reg Xantia and proper Metro were the highlights for me, but also saw a derelict Consul Capri. Every handyman seems to own a knackered old van too. GrumpiusMaximus 1
GrumpiusMaximus Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 ...proper Metro were the highlights for me, but also saw a derelict Consul Capri. Saw one of those in beige driving around on Thursday. Can't remember exactly where but I remember being quite excited...
Cavcraft Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Fairly shabby looking gold Acclaim near Tarvin (by Chester) yesterday.

Mk 1 Fiesta apparently under restoration in WorthingRover 414 saloon, looked nice, white, in WorthingFairly late (B-plate) SD1 Vanden Plas Vitesse, black and only a bit shabby, in LewesMk 2 (J-plate) Scirocco parked outside my flat in Lewes No pics of any of them. M'coli Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Wednesday, on the way home from work, I saw a red 5-door Volvo 340 witth a fair bit of snow still on it and later a Lada Niva heading the opposite way to me on the M1 - both made me shout out in delight.
Louise2cv Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 A little Bond minicar (F?) has turned up in Caernarfon. It seems to be a daily driver too! RayMK 1
Ghosty Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Walked past the wanky XF again yesterday. Couldn't take a pic as the owner was chatting to passers by and polishing little bits with a cloth as he did.
Crispian_J_Hotson Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Only went and saw one of me favourites didn't I? Mk 1 TRANSIT VAYNNNN! double rear wheels too, heavy duty shite! I think...I think, I know a fella who's old man owns it as it had his surname signwritten on the sides, may need some further investigation and blag a free ride...
AlabamaShrimp Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Was behind a Suzuki SJ yesterday. Black J reg. Looked like new with a big weird colour sticker down the side and a giant white bull bar. Driver was a woman aged 50s so might have had it from new. Certainly didn't look like it was used off road.
bramz7 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Seeing so much shite from the trains at the moment:Avantime, 405 GTX, late 800 coupe, 205 Rallye, ZX estate, Renault 5 turbo, early 106 in a nice light purple, late 80s Sunny, mint 309....Looks like I'll have to go spotting down here soon.
mercrocker Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Just walked down the post office to get Dad's 80th card off (Happy Birthday Old Git) when my shite radar (well, ears, actually) detected a long-unheard flat twin. Not just any flat-twin, though, this had the unmistakable sound of No Gears. Looked round and there is some old Doris, nearly as old as me Dad, doing the Variomatic shuffle in a rather smart navy blue DAF 33. Go, girl! RayMK and davocano 2
Louise2cv Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Not one, but two(!) Proton Jumbucks living on this very street, right now! AlabamaShrimp and Dave_Q 2
neil1971 Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Absolutely mint dark red C plate 740 saloon near my Essex home today, both driving so sadly no photo but it looked immaculate, quite likely an elderly owner who's cherished it from new
