VAJtastic Volvo 960 FORSE HAIL (Sold)

My mate Paul is selling his (previously mine) Volvo 960 Base.

Couple of details -
3.0 automagic. Will do 27mpg on a run.

Base spec with optional Cloth interior. No cruise or climate control so less to go wrong. Basically it's a 940GLE with a 3L engine and independant rear suspension.

Updated Volvo stereo. CD Player + tape. May even have a boot located autochanger. I can't remember.

4 new tyres.

Load liner and load cover.

MoT till September.

Slight oil leak from sump. Suspect a gasket rather than a porous sump pan.

Brakes will need doing soon.

Tradional Volvo 900 series door card vinyl lifting.

May need an interior clean.

Other than that it's a fairly alright steed.

Looking around the £250 mark but I dare say offers shall be considered. Give us a bell if you want any more info or have interest in said motor vehicle. I'll post of a couple of pictures below but there are loads on Flickr if you search for "M458 VAJ" with the space.

Car is located in Cambuslang. Don't think it needs to shift IMMEDIATELY but obviously the more timely the better.

Oh.

Oh my.

I'm busy this weekend, but it turns out it's £100 cheaper than the Xantia to insure.

HNNNNNGH!

...would you take a deposit on it and swap it for a W reg Xantia HDi with 82k on the clocks and an MOT until April?

If I hadn't already agreed to buy an 850 I'd be all over this. It's smooth as a fish and pulls like a great with IRS to keep you out of the ditch.

I dislike facelift 960s so I am oot, but this is a rare chance to own a genuine SVM Approved Used Volvo and it is genuinely a decent car.

I could ask about the deposit thing but I know it needs to be a straight sale. He bought a S80 D5 recently and only wants one car at a time.

Bugger. I don't have space for the Xantia, the 316 AND this at the same time.

Well that's easily enough solved.  ROFL the Xantia!

I drove this car at Shitefest 2014 and pronounce it VERY FINE and a proper bargain at that price.

Here's a happy picture that features it adorned with SVM bunting, sadly only in the background:

Yes, but then there's the Civic too...

Alright alright. If I find out tomorrow that the Civic is truly gubbed, and if I can get rid of the Xantia quick enough, I'll have this.

I need some alcohol to clear my head...

Buy one Xantia get one free? Might solve two problems at once...

Who owns that gorgeous Beta?

That WAS breadbin's at the time. Did it not end up with Mr cabbage?

Base for a 960. Like I say it's basically a 3.0L 940GLE with IRS so leccy windows all round, leccy sunroof and mirrors. Heated front seats too.

Might actually still be coil sprung a live axle at that age - 95/96 was the crossover point. Mine had transverse leaves like a Corvette (or,er, a triumph harold).

Still, the WANT is high. PM mode activated.

Posted

See the comments. The facelifts were independant rear suspension with coils at each end and single fibreglass leaf sprind across the entire axle.

Please see PMs also.

Much want for that, it's effing lovely. Shame I'm still massively over-committed on the shite front. Hope very much this stays in the family

It did come to live at Castle_Cleland for a while, but went to a new home [via Car&Classic] about a year ago.

IN WORLD ENDING TURN OF EVENTS!!!

A Volvo is heading FROM the Scotoshite Volvo Massiv TO England. Collection tomorrow evening courtesy of alcyonecorporation

Well bollocks.

Ah well. The Xantia continues to waft around perfectly competently and frugally.

A transaction has taken place. Mr alcyonecorporation collected from Motherwell and deposited in Cambuslang in the SVM 740 Staff Car.

Ex SVM 960 now heading to Engerland.

Dear god!

This has been a grim weekend for the SVM, not only have two Volvo's moved south but this ones actually left Scotland.

Could this be a sign of things to come?

Posted

Hopefully not seeing as rml2345 brought the 850 up yesterday and at least we know where the 960 is so if we want it back, we know where to look. Remember cms206 took delivery of the 740 turbo a few weeks ago and his V40 turbo at Christmas as well so stock levels are on the rise. I should do a formal fleet update.
