Cavcraft 2017: Another day, ANOTHER Rover!

Why was it scrapped?

I got it cheap because it had no MOT. I seriously doubt it's worth the effort (1.6 petrol) of even trying to bother testing it, plus I haven't the room/time/money. Plus it saves it from having some spoon fit 18" alloy wheels to it and drive round at 3.00am on cut springs.

But mostly because it's a Golf.

I've had that, get a car for £100 or so, then you think well it only wants a bit of welding and a pair of tyres, by the time you've fucked about it's making you about £30 for a weekends work after you've had about 30 text messages offering to swap it for broken Ryobi drills or virus infested laptops, you end up selling it to someone for £350.

Obvs. like it was my son's hard work and skills, I was just a spanner-passer. Omitted to buy gear box oil, so a VERY quick test and it all seems great. Next up matching tyres (back ones puny) and a sticking brake or two to attend to, then will change those drop link things.

Whilst the above was being carried out, two separate people offered me some motors, namely another Transit van (back-heeled) and a Vectra (possibility).

...probably too late now, but the rear calipers (if they were functioning) n window regs/ with metal inner liner housing thing were/are probably worth 'harvesting', even the manual reg  can be adapted to use on a leccy windows model... for someone intent on keeping eg at GTTDI or GTi or whatever tested these 'consumable vag parts',  parts are now 'hard got' in the yards, n easily resalable on e-bay or whatever...

Oh, that's got sacked right off, that Golf. Within 48 hours I believe it'd gone off the DVLA register. What a terrible shame.

For now, yes. It'd probably cost more to advertise than it's actually worth.

Has the ignis got 3 cylinders or moah?

If it has 3 then I would wave it in Bucketeers face ... he is a perv like that and was hankering after a cheap 3 pot.  I did offer to remove one of the spark plug wires from the corsa, but that didnt seem acceptable.

You know, I have no idea how many cylinders it has :(

Right, was there talk of another Vectra above somewhere? Be rude not to, really...

Ignis should be a 4-pot 1.3, Shirley?  Ours was, but it was a bit younger... (06)

Great thread title.

Not quite on the level of the Focus collection one, but easily 8/10.

No such thing as a 3cyl Ignis, sez wiki.

Billy that photograph of your fleet looks so utterly fucking depressing it should be adorning the cover of a smiths album.

Or a calendar...  ;)

Please let me know if/when the Ignis is due to be CUL8RD. It'd do me a treat for autotest lolz and general everyday drudgery.

Give him 40 minutes now you've said that...

You're optimistic. He'll point a hose in its general direction for 5 minutes, tops.

Well copulate my success, topped up the gearbox oil, went for a test drive and hammered on the brakes to see if it'd free off them sticking a smidge. Instead of that, a bloody brake pipe (the one coming from the load load valve thing) sprung a leak.

Can you safely or legally buy a mid-pipe repair kit (c/w unions) or is it a replace the whole thing job?

Can't see why you can't cut n flare it to add a section in. It's under no more pressure there than where the normal joints are.

Right, the Zafira's gone now. That meant it was time to fire up the Astra H as it's sat for a while unused....

Hopeless visibility and non-working speedo aside, it's a bloody ace car. Love the look of these 3 doors, black lends itself very nicely to the shape too, imho. Great to drive, feels as nice as it looks imho.

Coming later, Astra part two...

Hold your breath as I fear the Almera is going to PHAIL miserably on Friday - if so then I'll be seeing what Cavcraft Kwolity Motors has to offer.

Taxed this sexy little MUTHA today and finally got it off my lad's drive.

Hey, good work on re-clutching the Ignis! Mike will be well pleased. I thought it'd be a straight to bridge job. You must be hopeful of it winning another ticket - it's due in Nov, innit?

It's not looking promising now I've knackered the brake pipe up, to be honest :(

Incredibly easy job, no engine hoist required!

I refer the Hon. Womble to my F*ceb**k post of the other day. Freshly tested Clio is available.
