Free Xantia...........treasure hunt

Recommended Posts

A aforementioned, free Xantia up for grabs. 1.9 n/a manual hatch...................must be collected by end of the year  [get you home tax applies until then] but from BA21 3LZ, not Midlands as stated before.

Car has a mixture of pogweasel bootlid, lacquer peel on bonnet and boot, and a couple of dents [offside front wing] it's red [or was]

Long MOT [circa 9 months] Mechanically spot on, apart from worn synchro on second................and everything still works. Has done a couple of long trips [150 miles plus] with no drama.

First come, first dibs, but it must be gone by end of the year, available as of Friday.

Bugger BA21 not BD21 :-( would be an excellent ST replacement but your too far away.

I wonder how agonising A-framing a Xantia on the back of a DW8 Berlingo from Somerset to the north of Scotland might be.

Johnk a framed his Cortina behind the samara to get home from sf16, it can't be that bad.

Careful though, without the e give running on a xantia there's no brakes steering or suspension, how critical all that is with an a frame I do not know, but just to let you know...

I've only got four days off work for Christmas so for that reason, aahm oot !

Is it a 'sinker'? It should be okay if not.

I'm not A framing it to Scotland.

Would it not make sense to leave the engine running while a framing?

If someone is seriously interested in this I *may be able to collect/ store it for them for a short while

I'm seriously interested as I need another car for a few months, this sounds good but it's just too far away.

Saying that if some kind of relay system could be devised to get it closer :-)

Xantia will a frame fine if not a sinker. Steering will still work. Not sure I'd fancy towing one with an NA Berlingo though.

Can we see a photo of this pile of magnificence? I've wanted a Xantia ever since the family had a 110 HDi five years back now. It was magic. My 206 1.4 HDi is kind of worn out and I'm not wanting to invest in an expensive cam belt/ water pump service. I can't believe I'm wanting something much older and more expensive to run!

Quick engine swap before you set off?

This Xantia is also NA. I'm seriously looking into an engine donor to invigorate the miserable French van.

Just get a 405 TD estate and take the back seats out.

What's going to happen to this once-proud steed if nobody takes it on ? Would you try evilbay/mongtree or take it to James Brown's bridge ?

405 TD estates = 99% scrappers + not as roomy as a Berlingo.

I can come and collect tomorrow chap. PM'd you.

Ah but then the treasure hunt starts. The keys are at BA21 3LZ, then the fun and epic festive collection hunt begins!

Hopefully he's on with that as we speak, and he does have the ex-Neil 306 if he's desperate.
