Sealtainn Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Right as the StreetKa has failed her MoT due to major rust issues and after a couple of comments on the thread, I was wondering if there would be enough interest in a roffle. It currently stands me at £280 with purchase, new injector and MoT fee and it'll cost me £130 to get it shipped to Aberdeen and I'd like to see as much back as possible but would mean tickets would be £7 each. What do people think?
Split_Pin Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I thought that these were not as bad for rust as a regular Ka, wrong! So that's a hypothetical sale price for £410? Can't see you getting your money back on that tbh, in light of the amount of work required. Perhaps if you reduced the ticket price a wee bit you could recover something? Just my opinion, but it's looking like one of those 'take it on the chin and chalk it down to experience' types of cars. Hope you recover something though chap.
Bren Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Shipped to Aberdeen? Sounds like it could fit in a hoover bag. Twiggy, strangeangel, Supernaut and 1 other 4
Cavcraft Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 No's 1-59, please ...don't put my name against any of them. KTHXBAI The Moog, Supernaut and UltraWomble 3

Timewaster Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I think for a roffle to work the "prize" needs to be an object of desire - even to us lot. Sorry but I don't think you would get many takers for a tested Sport Ka. A Rot Mot failure? I'm Oot!
strangeangel Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Wot hairnet said: sell hardtop for £££ and sweep the rest into the nearest wheelie bin.
Bear Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I think the collection costs would make it cheaper overall to just buy an MoTd one for £500...
Aston Martin Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I'd love a streetka, I dont love the high tax and the dissolving chassis on them.
Barry Cade Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Has Kylie ever sat in it? That would make a difference... Supernaut 1
oldcars Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Has Kylie ever sat in it? That would make a difference...You should be so lucky................. gm, Barry Cade, Steviemillar and 2 others 5
blackbart Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 i posted a similar thread yesterday about a possible raffle etc. 2 x cars for £5 and didn't get any joy/takers. so they are both being scrapped today. both 04 plates, and relative easy fixes, with no rust, so i doubt you will have any takers mate. i think a minimum of a mot is required, for people to want to buy into a raffle. good luck though.
Cavcraft Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I don't know, BB. I reckon you could quite easily sell a raffle out for an out-of-test car on here, but obvs. it'd have to be something decent or popular.Raffles have crashed and burnt here before, survival of the fittest etc I suppose.
UltraWomble Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Sell the hard top, ROFFL the rest for a couple of quid a ticket, but otherwise its a scrapper with norralorra love on here. Personally I'd be seeing what bits I can eBay off to the Fiesta brigade ( Engine? Wheels?) and cartakeback the rest, or even eBay for £49. Dunno, thats just my two pennorth.
UltraWomble Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Or, stick it in a dry barn for 10 to 20 years.

How much are you getting from the scrappers, £40 each? There's your problem.
