A BelAZ-7520 with a carrying capacity of 110 tons. And a Lada.

That’s just a baby one. They make one with a 360 T capacity.

Think this might be the same truck, repainted under a different operator.

Cor! What a handsome rig that is!

The trailer looks a bit ropey and cobbled together. Any idea what it is?

Tractor looks like a MK2 Leyland Buffalo but the trailer is a bit more difficult. I'm guessing a modified Carrimore transporter of some kind but haven't been able to find much else.

It’s a weird looking trailer that’s for sure. You’re right though, the basic shape of the frame and axle position does look very much like a later Carrimore. It looks quite home made bodywork-wise, and I wonder if they’re opening hatches on the sides? Maybe like a mobile exhibition vehicle or something?

Apparently they were used for transporting SD1 body shells from Cowley, so chances are it was cobbled together in house for the job using whatever was to hand. Much like half of BL really.

Probably some sort of bespoke build they put together specifically for moving bodyshells. It wouldn't look out of place on a fairground carrying a dodgem track, waltzer or similar.  Get another of those 3D printed Buffalo cabs and a lot of plasticard and it'd make a really imposing 1/43 model.

Looks a lot like the green base of wind turbines which is popular in Europe not not seen in the UK for some reason.

Father PD had one of these Ex McAlpine Thames Traders. His didn't have the 4wd conversion  but otherwise pretty much identical. 350 HNY if I remember correctly.

That's bloody cool.

That would make a great basis for a model IMO.

It does look cool! Looks a proper tough little truck. Rare being 4x4 too.

I wonder if it wasn’t a road truck though given the headlights have numbers painted over them?

Talking of purposeful - a Tatra 148 tractor unit. Note the angle of the rear wheels, which are typically Tatra thanks to the central tube chassis.

That reminds me, I saw this (probably) ex-BT Dodge Spacevan again on Monday, parked up in Dunbar St in central Belfast. Good to see it's still earning its keep, some six years after I first spotted it.

I would have stopped to take a picture, but my exhaust had just fallen off and I was trying to get across three lanes of traffic without attracting the attention of the police car in front of me at the time.

Still, silver linings, hey?
