Garage Find - What's it worth?

Don't get too excited, it's nothing mega rare/exotic.

Sometimes as part of my job, I have to deal with probate matters and one recent property I went to inspect had this car in the garage. The executor wants it gone, and I said I'd help try and find a buyer.

From my limited knowledge of Japanese machinery, I think it's a Toyota Camry 3.0 auto. MOT ran out in May 2016 and passed last time with one advisory due to a corroded fuel pipe. It's done approx. 110,000 miles.

Looking at past advisories there appears to have been some corrosion on the underside but as it's not appeared on the MOT sheet last time it might have been dealt with.

The body looks reasonable, there is some bubbling about the rear arches and there appears to be some wob above the passenger side wheelarch.

Behold my gr2 photography. I couldn't get it out of the garage because the battery is flat. The interior by the way is immense, properly immaculate.

Don't all jump at once......

111k is right according to MOT, it's only done 9000 miles since 2006.

Sadly I'd say without MOT it's worth £200-300 tops really, even MOT'd and in a white room it's what, a grand max?

I "say" what a garage find. Is that a camping and caravan club grill badge?

My thoughts exactly. I did say this to her, but I said I'd try and find out for definite.

Yes, and the old boy's walking stick is still laid across the rear bench.  :-(

That's a bit sad. If the badge needs a new home let me know. It would look spot on the 75 for when im towing

There are japanese retro enthusiasts around, but as already guesstimated, two to three hundred squids as is at best, no more than a grand in that nick with bodywork issues and high ish mileage.

Would personally, love big old auto's 8)

Where is it?

It's in Melton Mowbray (also known as the arse end of nowhere).

Ooh would love to see more. What better way to waft about bankrupting oneself, well this side of a Bentley anyhow.

Actually, that is pretty rare as a V6 in that generation of Camry. Just a 2.5 from memory rather than 3-litre, but definitely worth trying to save. Unfortunately that model is a bit rot-prone.

It’s the sort of car that would get bought by a dealer while we’re all pontificating, they’ll get a quick bit of work done on it then bang it up for £3-4k (and we’ll all moan). I’ve seen it happen with other Camrys of that era.

What sort of time is available before it needs to go? In the near future I have cause to borrow a trailer, and if the Sunny goes to a new home it would be vaguely feasible….

I'd have it for the 2VZ-FE under the hood, yo. Prime swap for an N/A mk2 MR2.

I think they're keen to get rid fairly soon, maybe within the next couple of weeks?

Sadly I won’t be able to do anything within that timescale (and being realistic, I already have 1-2 Camry projects which need my money/time).

Ignore that. Not a great version of the V6. (Plus I would have no use for the car, after pulling the motor out) :-)

Melton Mowbray is a nice part of the world.

We liked it so much we moved out to Oakham  :-D

Seriously though, it's a nice little town and the collection fred should include many pies.

I really like those. Hopefully someone on here can save it, had it been a bit closer and moted i would have had a dabble myself but then again if it was moted it be more money and everyone else would be after it.

Nope, I wasn't excited at all. You used the word garage instead of barn lol.

I used to visit an automation company there, near the TVR dealers.

I stayed in the only hotel in town god knows how many times. It was erm variable.

We've now got the attraction of a Premier Inn. It's a poor show when that's your best hotel!

I've been twice and both times the damn pork pie factory was closed.

My Uncle had one of those in the unmistakeable shade of burgundy they came in. 2.5 GX. Eerily quiet. '89 on a G.

He died and it was spirited away beyond my control. #sadface.

So….insurance on this is £100 more a year than a diesel ZX is. That's with two months of having a licence.

INTERESTING.
