Not really neede but ordered 2 sets as I keep losing 11mil and 14 mil sockets

Posted

I'm confused... 1/4" sockets yet every car I've worked on has needed 1/2" sockets....

Someone tell me what all the excitement is about?

Depends what job you're doing - these are perfect for awkward things like timing covers, battery terminals, sensors etc

Used these today on my knackered C3 to get the engine bay fuse box out

They'll fit a 1" , 3/4"  , 1/2" and 3/8" drive too ,  if you so wish... with an adaptor  when you need 140ftlb on a 6mm bolt.. :-D

yes 1/2" drive is correct for speaker fixings and tail lamp nuts

Just picked mine up, came out wondering why I only ordered 1 set when we all know they're going to disappear off the face of the Earth one by one.

I have just had two calls from Screwfix this morning, the first to say they could not fulfil my order and they would be refunding me.

The second just a couple of minutes later to say they had two there would send me and refund me the third of the three I had ordered. I complained I wanted three to spread the carriage costs and now they have refunded all the carriage costs! So if it goes to plan I will get two for £3.00 delivered!

Sleeved with a trolley jack handle/scaffy bar or directly adapted up for an impact gun, too.

Is that why people are buying multiple sets? :D

I bought a set when they were £1.50 a couple of months ago. Not bad imo - similar to Aldi/Lidl tools. Also got the bigger set too.

I bought 5. I dont need them but I really wanted to feel like I was taking part.

... today I used my own set [not Lidl/Audi/Scarfux] but still couldn't get the ffinn door handle out.... :angry008:

I have one of those Lidl sets , and bloody good they are too, apart from the plastic catches and hinges  breaking, allowing the 1/4 drive sockets to fall out and be lost.. .

Knowing i had a new set , i plucked the remaining few sockets out and threw them in the bag of sundry tools 'cracked open the screwfix packet...only to find no 4.5mm or 5.5mm included. .   and we can't have a gap can we??  :-(

Rummage in the bag found the pesky missing ones :-D ,  but do i ever need the 4.5 or 5.5mm anyway ? :?

Oh yes !! To hammer on a fooked 5mm and 6mm nut !!

Mind you, you need a bit of Brute Forcesyth to remove the fekking sockets from the clips. Almost had to use two hands!

Yup. There's always something better to spend £1.49 on.

That said, I bought three sets. And some 'Forge Steel' nylon tool folders I'll never use.
