I came across this:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-55795654.html

I don't know if the car comes with the house, but it's hardly been driven between tests for the last 10 years.

Great find firstly!  Makes me wonder again, how many nice* old motors are sitting dormant like this is garages around the country.

And no im not talking about bastard MGB's or Mini's, I am talking about Metro's, Allegros, Princess's, SD1's, Maxi's  etc etc...

Now that's sleuthing!

Lovely 20s/30s houseshite by the way!

You know how we often say Do Not Paint about a car?  Well this house falls into that category!  I think it's beautiful, with or without Metro.  I bet it was some old dear who's passed away.  BMW-driving son won't see any value in Mum's old Metro, and nothing beyond pound signs in the house.  Sadly!

That's a nice house, I would have been delighted to find a metro in the garage when buying ours.

Good find! Love the house as well; scary how different Cornwall property prices are (apart from the posh/fishing bits) compared to many others parts of the country.

That's a real shame. House has been gutted (cleared out) and has been vacant for quite some time. The old scrap metro in the garage that has covered 50 miles a year is forgotten abouy and will just be tossed to the side, and probably go to auction at some stage. Somebody save it...

Good detective work there. A nice house but needs some work to bring it up to standard. Car looks OK in the pic but we know how old Metros can rust. Let's hope the garaging kept the rust at bay on this one

Interesting that the only modern thing about the house is the electric garage door, obviously to enable Mr or Mrs Giffer to keep the Metro safe, even after they were unable to manage a manual door- someone loved that car.

Reminds me that in about 1974 my parents bought a newsagents ,not a million miles from this house, in Kings Heath . There was an immaculate A60 Cambridge in the garage, Old English white with a red flash and red interior. My dad wanted to put the Viscount in there( understandable that you wouldn't want a 60's Vauxhall in the rain) and gave it to the son of the neighbouring Haberdashery who put Colnel Bogey airhorns and two 6' whip aerials on it and drove it like a maniac.

I've contacted the estate agent but am yet to hear back. Will update thread as I have no use for it if it is available.

That's great - I was going to suggest that, cos it won't be long before the Metro is HIAB'd away otherwise.

Let me know as I may be interested and know others locally as well who will be. Whatever happens it needs to be saved.

Remember the thread 2-3 years ago where a house clearance unearthed a lovely 1965 Rapier, only for some rigger booted hiab moron to destroy it? Hiab boom crushed the roof down and it ended up being bantered. The Rapier was probably worth more than the scabby old Iveco it was loaded onto.........

I can see things like this going one of two ways...

Either the seller just gets it removed and taken away for zilch, or the seller see's a low mileage car and ends up with some amateur doctor on a non sunny and non gravel driveway for dollar !!

that's amazing! My dad owns a flat that he was renting out to an elderly woman. When she died we had to clear out this flat and in the garage there was a ford Anglia door, bootlid, wheels, chrome trims, bumpers, wheel trims and I'm sure there was more I just cant remember. Also there was a box full of 19302-1980s car magazines and brochures!

Just a shame the Anglia wasn't still in there complete!
