How someone ruined a Jetta:

BTW my observation is not meant to be criticism of you, buy something else and put up a thread, we love to read about other peoples cars.

I'm in the process of drastically modding a B2 Passat . I did tell the previous owner what my plans where,[after money changed hands] and he was all for it. I've no idea what would have happened if he wasn't......................

Soz, even if the OP is 16, he does need to get things in proportion.

I sold my house a few years ago, I'd done a lot of work to it and it sold fairly easily, 18 months later it sold for 60 grand more than I sold it for. The vendor had done nothing further to it.

When you buy and sell anything luck plays a big part, expert or not.

I've learned from long experience that when selling a car you have to accept that either a) it'll be the kiss of death for it, or b)the buyer will keep it for five minutes then sell it on for twice what they paid you for it. Both options are regardless of whatever convincing bullshit yarn the buyer may spin you at the time. That's life.

unless you sell it to one of us, i for one have spent daft money and spent countless hours working on a car to make it 100% because of a promise i made to the previous owner who adored it

I don't understand the hate on me

Sorry if we got off on the wrong foot... welcome to Autoshite, hope you stick around it's mostly excellent.

I've seen this Jetta a bit on Instagram and happen to know you saved it from the scrapyard for £400, and in my books then going on and selling on for £1600 isn't bad going (although appreciate you've put work into it). Who cares if the next owner tries to do the same?

Thank you for your comments, like I've said I know they can do what they want etc etc just a shock seeing my car for sale such a short time after they bought it!

I wonder... If I bought the car, restored the orange indicators, standard suspension and numberplates, removed the stupid bonnet bra and wind deflectors and put it up for sale again would the previous owner (to a hypothetical 'me') take issue with the fact I've messed with their pride and joy?

What if I did all that, left it in my garage for a few months to get a bit dusty and then put an ad up for £5k, genuine garage find, timewarp, future classic etc

I bet they guy who took delivery of my car when it was new would be physically sick if he could see me this morning attaching a polytunnel frame to the roof or carelessly throwing my oil stained tools in the boot. Could I give a shit? No.

I sold a K11 Micra to a chap who wrote it off in a few weeks, is that a better moan?

I once bought a lawnmower off a guy, I spotted it was worth more than he was asking for it, went to look at it, he asked the usual, told him any old bull shit that came in my head to be honest. Put it up for sale later on another site and he was up in arms contacting me criticising buying it and making a profit. Long and short of it I made £40 on it, it was his fault he should have pitched it at what it was worth. That's business im afraid.

This. This is telling.

How has the new owner done anything different to you?

Do you not think it is time to put this thread to bed?

It is a none thread.Man buys car,car gets sold on,new owner changes car,car is sold on again.

The only difference is someone is making a profit. The Autoshite way is to loose money.

I would buy it back off him for the full asking price, take the number plates\bra\lowering (probably cut if he's only had it a month) springs off and then re-advertise if for £2000 MORE

That would learn him.

He's miffed about the Barrying - however mild (so far) - and the money thing seems to be more like amazement on OP's part that the seller thinks it's worth more in it's current twatted-up state than standard.

Still, it could be worse - I sold a fairly rare scooter that I had rescued from Facebook tards and put back on the road. Two owners down the line it got stolen by scrote vermin and written off. I only found out when I saw it for sale on eBay as spears/reapers, and while it was sad to see it in that state ATEOTD I'd willingly sold it knowing that anything could have happened to it after that.

As others have said, buy something else and start a thread! This is a good forum - the decent folk far outnumber the handful of moaners.

I've got nothing to do with the original post really, I have only created an account on here to address some of the negative comments that I felt were uncalled for. Like I keep saying, I CANNOT CONTROL WHAT THEY DO WITH THE CAR!! ITS NOT MINE ANYMORE!! Yes I'm sad they've done the things they've done to it after promising to keep it original but I've got no control over that. End of story.

Didn't someone on here sell a car and the buyer put it back on eBay at double the price using the same photos and hadn't even collected it yet!

Stick around, It's a good forum.

This.  We don't do 'hate' here.

Mostly.

And as for making a decent pot of tea on a motor, I think I may have mentioned the 2CV van I owned for a week in 2005...

Echoing other posters I can only add that you are welcome P304r5 - although a snappier username might be good!

I appreciate you aren't moaning but I totally get your disappointment/surprise in the circumstances. Stick around, it gets better!!

And as an additional point, I am watching Bangla Bangers on Discovery Turbo, just be thankful Leepu didn't get his hands on it!!

Welcome to the site P30r...

Worry not about negative/positive or otherwise comments. It just seems to be the way things work these days. Everyone has an opinion and many like to express them whther we agree or not. Take them with a pinch of salt and let it fly over your head.

Regarding the car; Yes, I can understand why feel the way you do regarding what has been done/price it's being advertised at (but not necessarily sold for) I'm guessing you've put quite a lot of effort into saving the vehicle and restoring it and to see your once pride and joy being hit with the "modding stick" can be a bit galling.

However, this is the way things go. Business is business, there is no telling what will happen to a car once it's sold and whether the buyer was simply buying off you to make a quick buck or simply had a change of heart/circumstances.

Chin up and move on, I'm sure there are more deserving cars out there that need the attention you can give it.

welcome fella, lets not dwell on the past, what motor do you have now??

If I like a car, I try my best not to sell it.

If I don't like a car, I try my best to sell it.

Therefore, new owner has full entitlement to barry it up until it hurts. Do we need the advert details in order to offer the seller pigeons, tinned spam and chocolate coinz?
