Splendid, and what a lovely car shed you have.

L I can see my early welding efforts being to fit some bracing bars across the door apertures and stuff.

.

With those A pillars???

My mate's daughter approves of the Rancho...

...as does Mrs S, but most people think I've gone completely radio dragging this home.

I haven't done any proper work on it yet, but I did unpack all the spares that came with it:

A driver's door that's rusty in different places from the one that's on the car

Two sets of head gaskets and manifold gaskets

A NOS fuel pump

A spare set of rear light clusters (not that there's anything wrong with the ones on the car)

A few spare sets of seat belts - all six seats have belts, though the inertia reel spring has unraveled on one of the middle row

Various door mirrors, including a good correct late-model one to replace the early-model nearside one on the car

A full(?) set of radiator hoses

New inner and outer rear sills and a bit of inner panel that looks like it might go between the inner wing and the a-post

The original (?) Phillips radio cassette head unit, plus speakers and correct speaker covers

The ashtray (used)

Several bits of roof rack

Two scuttle panels and a slightly rusty slam panel

The missing screen wash bottle (minus cap)

The spare wheel - the wheels are all in show-winning condition, oddly

My favourite thing, two large boxes full of wing-mounted rabbit-shooting spot lamps, in varying states of rustiness but including at least two that look practically new:

Having emptied the boot, I've confirmed the presence of the pop-up seats five and six (lap belts not visible):

Obviously I'm not planning to weld straight on to the flakiest bit of structure I can find - I'm not that stupid. It's going to need some sort of bracing before I start hacking away at the sills or a-posts, though. There does seem to be a fair amount of solid metal to work with.

Those mint spot lamps are a result. Fitting those should be a priority, never mind all the welding!

Nah, that's more my speciality - I am that stupid.

I believe a couple of guys have set themselves the task of visiting every uk town mentioned in song lyrics, by some band whose name I don't recall :(

..... 'Rancho (fit reference, to suit)' photo opportunities looks to be, dare I say, even more eclectic ;)

Oo, fab! PM coming shortly. Lots of useful French vocabulary to be learned there, too.

I REALLY want the optional bed attachment - instant win at Shitefest camping.

Do it! Go Holbeck!

I'd changed the thread title to alert everyone, but I'll change it back again if you're in the process...

Right, I might as well fess up now.

I'm in the same fb group where trigger saw this.

I managed to contact the seller and had a long chat this morning and what I heard was quite encouraging. Currently I'm waiting for them to e-mail me some more photo's.

Although recklessly I did make a sight unseen offer, so I'm in the game.

Ugh. Two doses of jealousy now.

Nice one! I didn't know you was in the group and was making offers or i wouldn't have shared it, there's quite a bit of interest so fingers crossed that you'll get it, imagine 2 Ranchos on this forum!

It's OK, I haven't bought it yet.

But I've taken note of Skizzer's experience and have asked for pictures of the door pillars.

BTW is there anyone on AS still in the tat shifting game? as I might need some assistance to move this from London to my gaff in Devon.

Does the team think?

Are you really expecting anyone to say 'no don't do it'

Even if it was mostly just the 'plastic' bits left we would all be saying go for it!

Not helpful but, yeah go for it :)

I would have said it's looks better than Sizzlers TBH, I'm guessing it's lived in that garage for a long while before going out side.

You absolute star! Now we can have a race to see who gets an MOT first!

I agree with Trig, even though he called me Sizzler ;-)

I've got a spare scrapper scuttle cover panel you can have (with or without holes for the spot lamps) and possibly a spare of the hidden panel that goes underneath it depending on the state of mine. Not the screen surround though.
