Cars that you forgot existed!

BMW M5 (F10)...

bmw-f10-m5-manual-tested-by-car-and-driv

With a manual gearbox.

Only remembered it due to a few US car magazine/news pages I follow have reported that BMW are killing it off due to the fact that nobody is buying it. Keep in mind it is only offered for the US market, which may be a reason why...

However.... how many of the first gen UK built Nissan Bluebirds exist?! '84 & '85 only.

None.  Production at Sunderland started in July '86 with the T12, as above ^^

Mitsubishi Grandis.

When did anybody last see one of these?

Posted

^ Local decorator has one,Nebuchadnezzar I drive past daily. Back light lens has about three acres of sellotape covering cracks and holes. I can only assume they're ridiculous money new, and non existent on the parts market.

Posted

Not sure where the hell Nebuchadnezzar came from, but it should read 'which'. I blame the Apples.

^^ There's one floating around Yeovil which I see now and again. It's the only one I've ever seen though.

There's a Grandis near me (at least I think it's still there) and I remember thinking when I first saw it that it was a bit obscure and I'd never seen another. Thanks to that brilliant autocorrect fail it will henceforth be known as the Mitsubishi Nebuchadnezzar - I actually think that's a better name than Grandis :)

As people carriers go, I always thought they looked pretty smart

Cortina Taunus coupe 70s thing.

Cologne 2.0V6 or 2.3V6.

High up on the cool wall.

That would be top of the cool wall if it had a proper V8 about 5 litres big.

TBH with a V8 & a few minor styling tweaks it would be a fastback 'stag anyway.

rust?

dodgy italian electrics,

and rust?

That's funny. The marketing slogan for the Tempra was "Designed for life".

I guess they didn't mean the lifespan of, say, an anchovy.

Anyone remember the Mitsubishi celeste? I lusted after one when I was 17 but ended up getting a Capri. I have been on the lookout ever since but have never seen one when I had any spare cash.

Granny Skut bought one new in 1979.  1600 GSR in Jannil Yellow with cream vinyl seats with orange cloth inserts.  It got passed down and was a family car for years.   It was the first car I ever drove on the road albeit illegally.   Steering was odd,   felt like it had liquorice for steering gear at low speed but very direct once properly underway.

Holy Bumping of a thread batman!

I feel this is worth it though.

Earlyer in the week I was stuck behind  2012 golf convertible, seeing a new style Golf R go the other way while stuck in traffic it made me remember about the VW Golf R convertible. I couldn't remember if this was a real car that had a silly price tag or one of the crazy concepts VW show a the Worthersee festival.

I finally got round to checking and it turns out I was right! Back in 2013 VW offered you a 280BHP AWD convertible!

Costing a shade under £40,000 in early 2013, you could get a PORSCHE BOXSTER for cheaper brand new, by about a grand!

I honestly want to know how many were sold, how many in the UK and also I WANT TO SEE ONE!

I think there might be one used as a taxi here in Aberdeen.

My pals Dad (Bosnian old chap) runs a silver one as a taxi in banchory.  His second one.

Bump-de-Bump

Forgot this was a thing until I saw one in the work carpark just now!

The Seat Exeo! Its just a B7 Audi A4 with new front and rear!

And I so would own one!

I can't forget the Exeo because of its obscurity, I did however forget there was a wagon, or I just didn't know in the first place!

Funny, there are absolutely shitloads of Exeos on the roads over here. If a minicab isn't a Skoda Superb, then it's likely to be a Seat Exeo - in either saloon or estate format.

Never realised they were a bit obscure just over the water. How strange.

I'm seeing quite a few as minicabs in Manchester, as if the plate cheaters are catching on to them.

I totally never did a search on eBay and AutoTrader during my tea brake after seeing it, Actually think they look neat and would own one over the A4. Out of 70-odd on Auto trader, 2 were petrol. Same story on ebay! Also higher mileage overall then expected...then I remembered that the youngest ones are 6 years old.

It was around long enough to even warrant a mild face-lift! (Lights and Grill)
