To be honest, I have no idea what most of the cars in this thread even are.

Could everyone please state the make and model when he posts pictures?

Tbh if I was looking for bullshit-free advice on a new car I'd ask here too.

It's been pretty good so far on here. I knew shite owners had it them to give out advice on new cars too. My Mum has actually been online to read through the replies and found it helpful so thanks for that!

Renault Zoe. After all what could possibly go wrong with an all electric Renault?

This one looks like it's phoned head office - "ah bonjour, c'est moi. I 'ave, 'ow you zay, failed to proceed again"

I'd repeatedly kick the design team of the fucking Daewoo Mokka repeatedly in the bollocks as it's such a hateful pile of fucking shit. The interior stinks of cheapo plastics and pretend leather

I have to say I think the Nissan Note is a pretty good choice. I used to run a 1.5 Diesel when I worked at a Nissan dealer. It drove well with great MPG, has brilliant spec (N-Tec has touch screen Nav, Bluetooth etc) and has a really versatile interior. I'd happy roll another one.

Sandero or Stepway. If it has to be auto then hang on a couple of months as there is an auto coming.

We bought one for Mrs_Lobster last year and it's really impressive. Decent enough to drive, 900cc 3 pot turbo whisks it along surprisingly quickly and gets good economy too. Plenty of kit - 4 x electric Windows, decent sat nav and a really useful thing for nipping about round town.

My friend has a Stepway and it's a very agreeable thing, seems quick enough and quiet enough for being the 900cc donkey. Being a luddite I'd have to have the 1.2 4 cylinder. It is quite funny though that for a while it had a tyre pressure fault showing, she assumed it being Renault electrics that it was throwing up spurious electrical faults rather than actually showing that the tyre had a puncture...

Nissan Notes are driven like absolute shit round here, they and Qashqais/Pukes must be tough as old boots as they're rallied round like there's literally no tomorrow. I think that's what the drivers are aiming for.

Fuck me.

"Because of the options you want, you're looking at a 10-12 week build time" factory order

I could walk around the world and make it myself in that time.

Oh for the days when she would have gone straight for the posh Allaggro :-D

I test drove a duster.

It was just like driving a brand new 15 year old car.

Unsurprisingly.

It will be one of those dreadful 'robotised manual' boxes, not a proper automatic so probably best left well alone.

Just ordered my car through Drivethedeal. I also tried carwow/many others' and no-one could touch drivethedeal.

Carwow is good, because you can actually talk to the dealer. DTD they just say "It's in Kent" I'm assuming fucking Dover, but we shall see. "Free-driven delivery" No thankyou, i don't want some twat picking his nose on the 4 hour journey in my new car.

£500 dealer deposit taken and the dealer getting in touch tomorrow. Pistontwats all rave about DTD and we know what a bunch of petty cunts they are.

In theory, all is well... apart from the 3 month wait. :(

christ so there is something slower in the world than me doing a headgasket replacement.

I've a friend with one and it's proving as reliable as a late Laguna diesel isn't. But they force you to hire the batteries at a punitive rate, which is bad.

That must be better than a brand new new car?

Dacia duster or stepway

I bloke at work has a 15 reg Duster and was Late in on Thursday morning.

He got a flat tyre.

He removed the bolts.

And then had to wait for the AA to come and remove the wheel which was seized on.  (The car has only just been in for a service and they ticked a box to say that wheels had been removed to check brakes)

AA man had a bit rubber mallet and trolley jack to remove wheel safely.

AA man had a torque wrench to fit the bolts set as per manual. (apparently)

One wheel nut snapped. Looks like a manufacturing fault.

At this point I would have insisted AA recover me to the nearest dealer for 20 new wheel bolts to be fitted, under warranty, but he choose to drive to work and then remonstrate with Renault dealer over the phone.

My dad did that back in 2001 buying a mk1 focus estate 2.0 ghia with numerous option boxes ticked, including his weird NEED for a plain white car. 8 weeks waiting.

Asking what new cars are like on here is like asking what black people are like on a white power forum.  :-D  :-D

They all look the same and they smell funny ? But HGF is HGF

I sat in some Hondas at the London bike show the other week (no idea why they were there). They were really, really, really nice and high quality cars and a great place to sit. CR-V has come from a company that makes silly little motorbikes to setting the bar in the SUV market. They've also brought out another HR-V too...

The first dusters that came into the UK came from the factory in India, as the Romanian one wasn't setup and ready to make RHD versions. That'd be fine, except the India factory didn't rust proof/paint/etc them properly. These vehicles were actually showing rust on the panels in the owners first month of ownership.

The UK Dacia enthusiasts forum coined the phrase, Rusty Duster.

New fiesta diesel. If you do the miles, if not the 1.0 is a good call.

Not sure about the 1.0 Ecoboost as being a good call. I have a colleague with a Focus with this engine in it. It's now on its third engine, after two spectacular FTPs involving the turbo throwing itself into the innards of the engine.

He's not had a penny to pay, as it's all been done under warranty, but still .....

The romanian Dacias do not have any rust-protection too.
