Fuck bollocks, just seen this and have been after a suitable working radio cassette to fill the hole in the Maestro for ages, but I was too slow and the two that would have been suitable have already been claimed :(

Dicky - I've got an old Philips in the garage, which is pretty much exactly the same as the one my dad had in his 1988 Montego. No wiring with it. I think it came via Mat_the_cat somehow. You're welcome to it, but I can't post it.

I bet the sound quality on those are amazing, especially when turned up loud.

They had some Uzbekistan-esque 4-channel amps, I did not bid on those.

New old stock? Some of these must be 25 years old Shirley?

Apparently the Sanyo can have the frequency expanded by the simple application of a soldering iron and some capacitors:

Personally I quite like the idea of a low frequency ORIT radio and the possibility of hearing the Intervision Song Contest live from Moldova.

They go for shit loads in the former USSR

The only reason I discovered it was Russian was because when you Google that model it takes you to Russian forums all asking how to change the frequency.  :-D

You can get Japanese FM converters on ebay for about a tenner, which I think is the same frequency as Russia?

Dammit, I sold it on the wrong forum. The speakers are probably worth more.

Not quite the same frequency shift, but like I said the fact its a functioning ORIT radio interests me, hook it up to a decent Yangi twig and see whether I can pick anything up.

Failing that I could recoup my money flogging it to some Ruski Lada taxi owner

Have paid for mine but like a tit I paid it from the joint account, so am going to have to explain this to Mrs Imp as we are on a very very strict budget at the moment until she goes back to work, only spending money on 'essentials'.

I think a stereo for a car thats off the road is not top of the list of things I am allowed to buy......

I suspect I will be living in the car but at least I will be able to listen to some PHAT TUNES YO!

That takes me back- had a pull out system with little handle in my 2cv from 1993 to 1997. Replaced it with a Panasonic cd player which then later went into both of my CXs.

Mailed 2nd class this morning.

Price droppage as the shipping wasn't as much as I thought. Also it's not cool to have cassette radios in the spare room...

Pffft! Even before the latest purchase, I think I have more headunits than actual cars, and that's a lot

The Unisefs have proved popular.

They're all on Ebay now, I've undercut other sellers.   The £59.99!!!!! Unisef is still there.
