Politicians dont lie you must be wrong,

And I'm pretty sure we have a rolling tax exception just not at 25 years.

Rolling at 40 years, 25 would be much more agreeable, no?

Also there was no such promise, AFAIK.  They just said that they'd think about it, IIRC.

I am no fan of the Government, but I can't see any good reason why old cars shouldn't be subject to tax.   One of my old sheds is tax free, another one about to be, but even though I stand to benefit from the tax free scheme I can't see a compelling case for extending it.

I seldom agree with your political views, but I also think that who can't afford 20 odd quid a Month shouldn't be in the old car hobby.

Hence I decided that when the haunted Rover becomes tax exempt in April, I'll donate the equivalent amount to a charity UKIP.

When my DS reached 40 years and I didn't have to pay RFL on it I immediately rushed out and bought another old car just so I could be seen to be paying my taxes.

Fair play to Hiram who's messaged to apologise if his first thread caused any concern, as it wasn't intended.

I'm not going to buy a rolling road, whether it's tax exempt or not. Also, it's VED, there's not been rolling road tax since 19...etc..

Ooh, a petition , that'll do a lot of good.

I remember when the petition website started out and I thought it might actually change something, I signed a few that made it all the way, only to get some question avoiding waffle from the Government in reply saying thanks for signing we're going to do our best to do nothing differently. Does anyone have an example where a petition has actually changed the law?

Oh and Hiram welcome to the forum, like your Audis!

No, but thought it might break the ice - have been lurking enjoying the site for about 18 months and this morning I posted several times. The 5 post rule meant they all had to be moderated, this thread broke first (my newbie post hasn't even appeared yet!!).

Thanks for your kind words about the Audis, I have had the black one about 9 years, done a load to it. The green one has been a battle with OMGHGF etc but I like them (vag boo hiss)!

Maybe I am the only one who can think of chod I would rather spend £230 on than tax...? Each to their own I guess, not my petition either BTW, was over on Classic Audi and the guys over there were talking about it, signing it mostly...!

When is a PARTITION not a PETITION.....when it's fixed

I take a different view. I have BMW's from both 1989 and 1991 and I'd like free tax on them please. Because I pay tax on the others, it'd be nice to have something for nothing.

What i would love to see is a sliding scale of car tax.

Over 5 years old, reduction by 10%

Over 10 years old, 35%

Over 15 years old 50% and so on until you get to 1991 cars - of which there are virtually bugger all left. This may* cause ringing with Land Rovers, Minis etc, but it would be nice to see an administration reward the continued use of old cars rather than a) buying a new one and thus creating moar polushion  and b  ) A rerun of the disgusting scrappage scheme.

Raising the personal allowance to £11'000 is well and good, but motoring for many folk is a serious expense - possibly why so many new econoshitboxes with free or 30 quid a year tax are sold and thus getting them into debt they don't need. A lot of folk are not running a 1998 Fiesta out of choice y'know.

Hello and welcome, that was me who approved this post and not the others, for some reason the tapatalk app has changed again and I can't work out were the moderation tab has gone from it. I'll get the hang of it one day.

Lolz. Should I try again or is it still in the system somewhere :)

The tories lied to get your vote

I didn't vote Tory. I'd only vote Tory if UKIP were the only other party available.

If Corbyn gets in, we'll all be on Shank's bloody pony, probably galloping towards an oncoming train.............................

Lots of foreign companies also seem to be on a rolling exemption.

There is more chance of monkeys flying out of Junkman's butt than of Corbyn becoming Prime MInister.
