egg Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 Bulb has gone in the clock, with some fiddling got the clock out and removed the bulb, now what is it?!
egg Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 Think it's these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/365366575393 But could go blue instead of green with these...mebbee https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372268461449
beko1987 Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 The inner bulb will pull out of that holder and be tiny itself. (and maybe cheaper but possibly not vs with the holder) Their the same as a 1980's Hoover Turbopower headlamp bulb. I fitted 2 of those (genuine too) to the ex's meriva numberplate lights 🤣 Outlasted the car... egg 1
egg Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 I've probably got one around *somewhere* just need to remember what that somewhere is, I think I've got a spare clock in the loft, so maybe just swap over. beko1987 1
MorrisItalSLX Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 As Beko said, it is probably a tiny little wedge bulb that pulls out of the holder. I replaced a couple in the automatic gear selector on Mum’s Camry, they had little green condoms over them to colour the light. egg 1

Depends how much of pain it is. I remember reading on the xm forum how it's best practise. To just replace every bulb with a new one even if only one has gone, but mostly because of how much of an arse stripping the dash down is 😂 Your clock looks easy enough to bung a used one in, but if you've spent 3 hours stripping something down I'd stick new ones in (then keep all the old working ones...) egg and AnnoyingPentium 2
warren t claim Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 Another job I never had to do on any of mine. I'm pretty sure I had that bulb fail on a couple of mine but as the taxi data heads had a clock it wasn't a job a driver would whinge about. egg 1

Think it's a 509t now, but will check in the loft before getting one. warren t claim 1

I had hassle getting one of these for my Mondeo. The bulb is not replaceable on its own as it is soldered into the holder, which makes it much more expensive. I ordered part number 6732417 which was supposed to fit a Mk 1 Mondeo clock. It looks correct but doesn't fit. I told the supplier and they said I actually needed part number 7358627 which I ordered. This did fit but only lasted about a week before it blew so I gave up.  egg, beko1987 and AnnoyingPentium 1 2
egg Posted April 29, 2025 Author Posted April 29, 2025 I got this Halfords bulb to fit with some messing around with adjusting the contacts, £1.99, see how long it lasts. 509t  warren t claim, Wibble, AnnoyingPentium and 8 others 11
egg Posted May 14, 2025 Author Posted May 14, 2025 Been out and about in the Mondy, so back at mechanic today to have nearside suspension knock looked at. Hope it's just the top mount... Dyslexic Viking, Popsicle, RobT and 8 others 11
egg Posted May 15, 2025 Author Posted May 15, 2025 So turns out it's the rear (original) drop links. I had some OEM in stock, but I'm not at home right now, and let them find some... These things.. ...which they eventually did after the factors delivered the wrong ones twice (3rd time lucky) Apparently they had quite a bit of play in them. Picking it up tomorrow, and will see if the legendary* handling is improved, or a least the squeaks etc. warren t claim and beko1987 2

Very frequent job on those back in the day replacing those rear links, they changed the design on the later Mk2s about 1998ish onwards to a plastic one which was slightly better. I did once manage to break the actual roll bar on one of them, bust off just aft of the link. 😅 warren t claim, Eyersey1234, beko1987 and 1 other 2 1 1

Rightnider Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 These are the stats for mk1 Mondeo in Sweden A lot of them are probably laid up behind barns, but it is quite interesting since only a fraction were sold here compared to the UK. In 1995 it was the 8th best seller with 5,466 units.  We’re a country of hoarders. egg, Dyslexic Viking, adw1977 and 1 other 4

egg Posted July 1, 2025 Author Posted July 1, 2025 From Facebook - Darren Walker Quote A Ford of Europe Mondeo (as the plinth’s sign stated) on display at the Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn in June 1997. We were there for a conference and driving one of the newly facelifted Ford Contours at the time. I had the opportunity to discuss all the changes they made to create the Contour with an engineer, an overkill exercise which didn’t pay off. warren t claim, N19, Peter C and 1 other 4
