Headlight warning chime in a base. Amazing generosity from Ford!

My brother had a soft and soulful 'gong, gong, gong' headlight chime in his old Sierra 1.6 Azura. I do wonder if the same tone was carried over to the early Mondeo?

Azura was the base trim level for the final year IIRC. I had a 1991 Sapphire Classic, which was the base model saloon at that time and it didn't have a warning for headlights on.

Although it was ten years old when I bought it, so maybe the gongs had escaped by then!

My partner enjoys using expired analogue film, here are a couple of her shots from FoTU, including that diesel MK1.

Oh forgot to mention this, on drive back from FoTU saw this at Blyth services.

Electric Current Red was only used for the final mk1 year, wasn't it? I think it directly replaced the Nouveau Red on that diesel at the FOTU.

Thought of your thread @egg when I saw this honey at the A47 show this morning, not a K reg, but I thought it deserved a pic on here.

That is absolutely mint, well finded! Any Citrine is a fantastic spot. I can't remember noticing any Citrines on the K, not even in the '90s. They were mainly L reg's anyway, but I used to see a near-mint condition M130GTA driving around in Devon although not lately. Did the Citrines have any engine performance upgrades over the 136PS GLX, standard Si and Ghia?

Those wheel trims - Do. Not. Polish.! Seriously though, an excellent rare purchase! They will come up really well. Another Mondeo variant I can think of that used the Base trims was the Euro-market 'CLX'. I remember noticing plenty of CLX's when I went on a camping holiday in the South of France way back in August 1994. I don't really know how high up the Mondeo ladder the Euro CLX was, I can't imagine very. About the equivalent to our LX tops? I know they had side rubbing strips though. And most cars were Stardust Silver.

Nice to see this previously mentioned one.

I always craved one that colour. Sadly, I came close once but never bagged one.

I always think of Mondeos as Big Cars but it seems increasingly that they're overwhelmed by the modern 4x4 stuff!

Already due a facelift in Summer 2026 (the B.M.DoubleTrouble, not the Mondeo, which should always remain as it is).

Am I the only one who thinks the current 7-Series looks like a giant Alfa Romeo 156 from some angles about 20 yards away, around the rear in particular?

Anyway, let's get back to the Mondeo now.

The base model's speedometer looks quite a bit larger than on the other models doesn't it? The markings are much more widely spaced out and would be easier to read when on the move. I think this display should belong in the 'best and worst instrument font' thread.

Not much data for K752WTA. But it would be originally sold from either Evans Halshaw in Exeter, or Palmers Ford in Exmouth, on 8th April 1993.

Registration date courtesy of M.A.D Car Paints, of all things online.

Thanks to @KWhiteand eBay, it's back how it should be on a used set of Base trims....It's been a few years.

Well done! I don't remember seeing many with them, presumably LX was far more common?
