One of the relays behind fuse box is VERY hot. I presume this is the culprit?

Sat nav battery is dead, phone at 15%.

Sorry, more updates....

Ah, maybe that's what went wrong earlier for me. Like I said, I pulled the ashtray out and fiddled with fuses and suddenly everything started working again. I've a feeling Volvo bought their electrics from the French, and their interior plastics from Kinder Surprise.

Wipers? Who needs them eh? You seem to have had a seamless trip along the C2C/LTS this morning mind. Probally because I wasn't working.

Sorted it. Dodgy wiring under fuse box. Dismantled the dash and wiggled it. Of course I didn't do that while driving! post-1804-0-94957500-1451565248_thumb.jpg

You can adjust your 'list of wants' while you're at it...  :)

Fuse holder number 23 looks like its been rather toasty at some point! What's that one for?

Does that age volvo have a collection of spare fuses + removal with the fusebox/lid?

Posted

Daytime running lights. Yes, spare fuses are available.

Posted

Yup. Fuse 23 and the burny looking remnants is why I didn't spend too much time investigating the DRLs. There's a bit of fuse literally welded into place.

The furry animals will thank you for the food. Car looks bloody good.

No,it is the most horrible car I have ever set my eyes on. And I'm having to pay for the displeasure of owning it!

I'm amazed that sellotape has survived the journey. It's holding the reverse lamp lens in place. I reckon this car could just be the very definition of Autoshite. Dreadful, yet somehow likeable.

Dreadful, yes.

Likeable - no.

Top bombing, I have been stuck in town working this morning, I would much rather be collecting this thing, although you were a little too early for me Panda.

btw did you sell that silver 760? I think I saw it being driven around Rochford before Christmas.

This is the one with the gaping rot holes in the back isnt it?

I said it in the last thread.....

It deserves better than that, though in its time with me, it raised a ton of money for charity, so I'll have fond memories regardless.

Oh, I left the knackered alternator in the back. Chuck some new brushes in it and you can probably flog it to cover your fuel costs! Or stick it back on and flog the new one...

A chappie based waaaaaaay down sarf who fondles blue MGs who needs to have a go at renovating that (renovating works with old Volvos because they are essentially buildings with wheels).

But still, absolute top dedication to collecting that. Great thread.

Someone in Cumbria  who's lost their car in the floods might like it ?  Ebay will be full of non runner ,needs slight attention, easily  fixed cars from Cumbria next week !  Beko's rumageing in skips pulling out waterlogged hoovers ...

Yes, sold to someone local

What were you expecting?

I think the electrical faults are the tipping point to be honest.

Car electrics do not make sense to me, and short of stripping the dash and replacing every wire, I'm not sure how I will sort it.

Posted

It is annoying. Alternator, a few dash bulbs aside, I've not had one spot of electrical bother until this morning.
