the extinct ones....

Datsun Stanzas seem to be getting pretty thin on the ground now, although the Bloo saloon on here would get a thrusting from my want stick.

Austin Ambassadors are on my desire list after seeing a mint condition white automatic at a Cornish car show. Think I've got a photo somewhere, let me have a gander.

Mitsubishi Sapporo. Kept seeing a blue F reg one near me, but foolishly never got a picture of it.

A very tidy one lives near Gloucester. It would be better if it lived in my garage.

A Ventora lives near me too, a peach in metallic bronze, I did post a piccy a couple of months ago.

I saw a Honda N600 estate last summer, that's gotta be rare.

Is that the original Renault20tx or a face lift? Thought he was chucked off here?

There's bucket loads of Ambassadors out there.  All the wedges are well represented, there's even more than 1 of the very rare Austin and Morris variants.  Wolseley ones are common as muck in comparison.

The tricky thing is to think of a car that was sold new in the UK, that Bickle hasn't got and Barrett hasn't had dealings with.  Then we really will be dealing with a likely extinction candidate.  Everything I can think of and search for brings me back to Autoshite and usually a Bickle or Barrett post.  I could venture into the world of kit cars (Barrett posts again) but that feels rather like cheating.

Even a 1950s Datsun Bluebird is catered for as there's a user with an estate one on here.  Here's a nice picture of a saloon Bluebird.

Did we get the Isuzu Bellel and Bellett in the UK new?  Doesn't matter if we did, there's at least one of each of those in the UK too.

If there is one thing I've learned from this forum, it's that no matter what you think is extinct, there is a member here who has one of them.

So would the person who owns a Chrysler Laser please raise his hand?

Also, there was much sarcasm when an Ebay seller stated there are potentially less than ten examples left worldwide of his Plymouth Caravelle,

a claim I don't doubt for a second.

Just as a little note on the above, I assume that they were selling the Chrysler Laser in Japan because that's a very Japanese feeling advert in its own strange way.  That or the cover of a Kate Bush album I'm not aware of.

I sold several and used one as a demonstrator in Germany.

The Dodge (Omni) Chargers were sold in Europe as Chrysler Lasers, because every Mopar built for export EEC was labelled as a Chrysler.

gs birotor?

id suspect base models are rare, so stuff like 1.6 sierra base.

i know there is one mk1 cavalier 1300 2 door left. thankfully the club have her.

I'm pretty sure that no car will actually be extinct in the truest form of the word, but the LNA is as close as it gets

Loads left in France - HML reckon 16 in the UK / 5 taxed and on the road, but there's probably more squirreled away in the lock ups of deceased giffers, which don't appear on the system.

Mines passed its MOT without issue in October, with the MOT man commenting that it was surprisingly solid...

They were never officially imported when new, but there's at least 2 in the UK.

Running GS birotor in Dollywobblers last post in the XM thread.

(See Ian, we do read it!)

Now the famous blue example has been scrapped I think the three-door Stanza coupé is officially extinct. Lonsdales also. Tredias, uk-market Malagas. And Fairthorpe Atoms.

Other than that, there are a couple of examples of pretty much everything built since Ww2.

Somebody find me a Hepworth 518 and I'll be a happy man

What about Seat Terra vans in diesel flavour?

Posted

I bet that is seriously grim

It says on HML there's a Lonsdale still taxed so they cannot be extinct. I won't accept it. I just need to find it. Not sure how I'll do this but...

Where the fuck are they that's what I want to know!!!! I'd love to just find one that some old giffers had sat in a garage for 15 years.

I haven't seen a Vauxhall Viceroy in years but apparently there are now twice as many on the road now as there were last year (2!)

Stondon had one of those and I was gobsmacked that a small show my mate organised attracted two of the buggers! I reckon there's at least four in circulation. This is a difficult game as the likes of Messrs Bickle, Barrett and Glover seem to be keeping pretty much everything from complete extinction. I would have said Dacia Denem but then Sam found one...

I was going to suggest the Armstrong Siddley Sapphire as HML has no record of Armstrong Siddley but then I found the Owners Club website and there would appear to be quite a few.

I think you have to look for various trim models to find something that is truly extinct. For example the Viva HC DS driving school model. Another example is the Escort mk2 disabled driver trim level, they sold quite a few but due to being two door automatics with the 'I can't believe it's not GCAT' shell any left now will have a roll cage and Rothmans paint job.

I had a Viceroy.

I sold it to a chap from Bedford last year , who had originally intended to use it as spares for his, but subsequently kept it on the road as a ' daily'.

Just couldn't get on with it

Rare? Currently negotiating on a 1960 Datsun 210 pickup... Now that's rare.l

And a 1970 Honda 1300 Coupe

And a 1968 Mazda 1500

And a scrappy Bellett.

If I get any, at my pricing, I will be very happy. If I get them all, I'm ruined!

Datsun gives me the horn most though, and seller seems a decent sort, so here's hoping!

This show was near Bedford so I bet it's the same chap and he brought both. There was a black one and a maroon one if I remember rightly.

There's one in Wakefield, it's been stood for years and looks poorly!

Any thoughts on the MkV Cortina 3 door with 1.3 engine? I've only ever seen one  ( in JRG) and that was about 15 years ago.
