I test drove a 2.7 at a launch event which I really liked. The problem is that my s1 c5 scarred me for life.

What a car! What a price!

Always fancied the estate version with the same engine!

Keep us updated!

well, its arrived!  its ACE!  given it a quick scrub up and it will be pressed into daily duties until something better comes along or it breaks!  which will happen first?post-4577-0-13532600-1449927149_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-24974100-1449927151_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-49914900-1449927153_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-40042200-1449927155_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-32715000-1449927157_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-28247300-1449927159_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-43029600-1449927161_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-34912300-1449927163_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-26090800-1449927165_thumb.jpgpost-4577-0-22271700-1449927167_thumb.jpg

I'm astounded you got that much car for that little money.  It's not my sort of thing but I would have expected you to have to pay a lot more for a car that new and crammed with so many gadgets.  Astonishing stuff.

its a case of right place right time..and a little bit of balls....obviously it could have been absolutely knackered, but it was still mine! not a risk a private individual would perhaps take  no sale of good, warranty type bollocks at auction..bid and buy...and make the best of what you've bought.  this time it has paid off...for now.

It has the half-inside-out back screen! Why has nobody mentioned the half-inside-out back screen?

I do hope it's gonna make an appearance at Crail GLF before you get shut / it breaks.

How long before there's another picture of it bumped up onto the kerb? ;-)

Looks like an excellent place to be though. I honestly wouldn't mind keeping warm waiting for the breakdown on the heated massage seat.

Has the reason it was at the auction been found yet ? There is always a reason 😄

It was entered by a Volvo main dealer, the chap bought a new v60 or something like that, its deffo not a Volvo retail car.  :)

Cool . Would be a difficult car to sell at retail Monday I imagine . Lovely though . Was it thainstone you bought it from ?

Posted

no, thainstone is a place where all the crap that cant go anywhere else goes..a last stop before death.

That is pretty spectacular to be fair, i'd love a shot in it. When you sell it on, buy the new owner a congratulatory pint, I'll paypal you the £4 or whatever.

To update this and address the balance of my lucky barn finds....the shitroen has done a couple of thousand miles with me so far.....not long after being pressed into daily use it shat all its coolant out. Strangly on a modern car with beep and lights for everything it doesnt have a low coolant warning..... The heater went cold which was what alerted me to a problem. Turns out a heater return pipe had rusted through...so that was encouraging... Then over the last few days the "sealed for life" auto box is feeling more like "end of life". Am kind of ignoring it at the moment ... In the hope it fixes its self. A fluid change will be organsised soon, crossed fingers it helps.

Oh dear. Could be expensive. Curious what the symptoms are

Posted

And the frightening thing is this thing has another £3,000 worth of depreciation just waiting for you...

Posted

The symptoms are a harsher change on light load, mainly between 3rd and 4 th and an occasional judder between those gears when on a hill under slight load, nothing drastic, and nothing one would notice on a shitter...however on a car that you are waiting for it to shit itself. it is there.  Thankfully my driving style is FLAT OUT..so the problem is disguisable.  until it worsens...or self heals....

So, this shitroen and I parted company after 5000 miles or so. The gearbox diddnt improve with a fluid change, so i sold it to a capable shitroen fan and he sorted and and sold it on. Similarly to when i previously had a c6 which also gave me greif, i vowed to leave the brand alone having ticked that box.... However, i had also always said if i ever got chance of a c6 in black with the light interior, i would have another....... Well, look at my new toy.

newish citroen...looks very nice 'inside' - designers scale modelling clay, after careful, considered putty knife strokes still visible 'in real life'...

....outside styling like a 5 year old ADHD child after a load of Tesco Coca'cola's etch'a'sketched a rendering of a big family car - end result; proper shite... !!
