Mitsubishi Star Runner Much Impressedness.

Serena is ace. There is one down our road which means that I cannot have one.

I have fulfilled my biological function.

I cannot fit a trampoline in the front as I have no garden there and the 3 fucking wheelie bins take up most of the space. I would quite like a small beer fridge. Swap dog shit for cat shit and I'm there baby!

I have two children.

But I steadfastly refuse to buy a people carrier- it's man's way of telling the world that that you have served your biological purpose.

It's also a way of telling people you have a trampoline in the front garden, a budweiser fridge in the shed and dogshit in your living room.

If you have two children you don't need one.

It's also a way to tell the world that you don't care what Jeremy Clarkson or anyone else thinks.  I believe that a Peugeot 607 may send a similar message.

I have 4 children , I refused to buy an mpv when our youngest was first born in 1997 , I made Mrs N drive: an Audi 100 Avant 1.8 carb with factory rear facing seat, a Montego VDP Efi 7 seater, a 505 2.0 GR auto Family and then a Renault Savanna 2.0 GTX . She hated all of them .

I got our first Ulysse in 2000 at about the time we got our first Disco( a 3dr V8) it has been domestic harmony ever since. 2 Ulysees, a Tourneo, a Galaxy,an Alhambra, a Grand Voyager and 4 Espaces later I will never again own a people carrier.

I have two children. I refuse to buy a big car. If they don't like it when they're older, they can fucking well walk.

Does having 3 cats validate having an MPV? I'd like to think so. Cat carrier are a bit bulky.

Looks like collection will be on the 19th or 20th Dec unless a shitter fancies getting it for me earlier?

The chap works in central London and gets home around 7pm. He is in Tooting.

The only reason we have the C8 is the missus is a childminder. So in addition to our own three kids she sometimes ferries around other peoples.

Had she remained a lollipop lady we would have kept a normal car ( though I have to say the Berlingo was bloody ace and kind of an MPV).

The downside is that we now have space to take the MIL with us when we go on holiday :(

Surely not?

Isn't this the only option for a lollipop person?

BIG EDIT: My intention here was to suggest that a lollipop person might carry their lollipop in an R4 van. I've just realised, the image I chose to illustrate this shows a cargo that looks horribly like a body encased in concrete, dumped head-first in the back of the van. Clearly, that sort of treatment is not what I would consider 'the only option for a lollipop person' and I apologise if my choice of image has made it appear that way.

I bought a people carrier because of several kids so it was handy and drove well and I couldn't give the slightest fuck what anyone thinks of that, im not out to impress ☺

I've owned an MPV yet have no children and never will.

Did you win it in a raffle?

I don't see why anyone should have to justify having an MPV for any reason.  Requiring a a justification is behaving like the eco nazis who attack people for driving a 4x4 for whatever reason.

If you bought it, taxed, MOTed, insured it and put fuel in it then it's up to you.

Having run an 806 for many years I found it to have many advantages whilst only using maybe 10% more fuel that a mid size car, in fact less if the car is petrol.

Sitting high up is useful on a daily motorway commute for seeing which lane to be in.

Biggest vehicle allowed in the council tip (recycling centre  ) round here.

Brilliant in snow.

Brilliant for buying building materials / tools / furniture / DIY stuff. You can get a 4x8 sheet in the back of an 806.

Brilliant tow vehicle.

Having kids sitting high up makes it much easier to lean in to put seat belts on toddler seats, which is why my wife wanted it in the end, even if you only have one or two. I think that this mini SUV things like Juke, Sportage etc have the same advantage.

I have three kids and they do fit in the back of the 607, but I find that putting one of the them in a third row instead does lead to a quieter journey.

For these reasons I think that SWMBO has made a mistake to get rid of ours, but in the end it's her car so her choice.

I have one child and drive an MPV. Mind you, the primary purpose for it was house clearance which it excels at. I also like the high driving position. And somehow I am getting 3mpg more than the 1.8 Accord auto it replaced, despite being 500kg heavier and having an engine 150cc larger.

Looks like a giant Camberwell Carrot in the back of that Renault F4.

I think in M'coli's thread someone had mentioned a sharan/alhambra for sale in 110bhp veg friendly tdi flavour.

i can offer a remap:)

all MPVs do is suck the life out of you. They are misery on wheels & then the owners should be taxed eleventy thousand a week for all eternity for even considering that an MPV is an "option"

Trans Am. Now

Edit to add, when my lad was born in 2000, I compromised and bought a family saloon. A bright yellow Vauxhall PA Cresta with a 3.3 motor from a Viscount snotted into it. MPV my arse...

As a car for users of Tandy and Plenty of Milfs, an 806 or Ulysses has many advantages.

With the gear lever on the dash and a right hand handbrake , not to mention a big gap between the seats , I wouldn't be surprised if activities akin to Gillian Taylforth in a Range Rover could be performed, even whilst driving.

Any thoughts on a zafira turbo?

The people carrier for blokes who suffer with premature ejaculation.

Didn't know they did a turbo version. Impressive.

I don't have any kids and i drive a scenic out of choice.

It is a bit dull but i don't think it is at all miserable or life sucking.

I bought it because i was fed up with the lack of flexibility of a normal car and I didn't want to buy a van as i sometimes need back seats for actual people to sit on.

This was just a good compromise as it has all the room i need for lugging tools once the back seats are out, i like the high driving position and it just does what it needs to every day without fuss.

Even despite it being a DCI, it runs and drives spot on, easily achieves 50Mpg, More on a run and there are no signs of imminent failure.

All i have done is an EGR delete and i change the oil and filter every 3-4000 miles as instructed by a Renault mechanic as they don't like old thick oil for prolonged periods. i do other service items every other oil change too.

Nice big comfy leather armchairs, climate control and electric everything (which all works spot on) and all for less than £200.

Ill never sell it, It will just get bridged when it becomes not worth repairing anymore but it would have to be something major for that to happen.

I just think they are a very useful car and quite smart looking when washed and polished (not that that happens very often)

We've had a scenic (great) and an espace (shocking)

Mega useful transport. Big estate can do most of the same with more style though.

I got it very cheap from someone who was emigrating and just wanted rid, knew the car and that it was sound. I had heady visions of being an extremely poor man's Mike Brewer and punting it on for a slight profit but my cousin's car failed its MOT spectacularly I ended up letting her have it for next to nowt less than a fortnight later. Too bloody soft.

I'd eat a Picasso 2.0 HDi any day of the week and I am not married and have no kids
