What could go wrong with this?

the 1500 diesel it the better one as i recall?

the 1400 is the one that ha OMGHGF i think.

for £500 just get it bought just like i should have done in the velshatis.......

as i remember they are really flimsy, even for a small citroen. and not that comfortable but they did ride pretty good.

as long as you don;t go and expect it to be a jag or something, just a cheap citroen then you will not be disappointed.

just get it bought, its cheap and cheerful, in spite of everything that could and may go wrong!

Pedals will give you trouble if you have bigger than size 6 feet.

Valve clearances can cause starting issues, tin worm in any of the inner arches, rear axle wear, that's about it really.

I manage to pilot my VTS just fine and I've got size 11 feet.

Very nice, don't see you going to far wrong with that. Mega MPGs too.

Check on the inner wing next to the washer filler for rust. CV joints can be a bit soft (not sure if the diesel ones were heavy duty however) but apart from that very good.

Driveshafts.

My AX used to eat them for fun, but in fairness I used after market cheapo ones.

Fill it up to the brim with fuel and throw away the cap key. You won't need it again.

I'd snap that up for £500. Seems excellent value if as clean and well maintained as it suggests.

Plus sub 10 min Nurburgring lap times -

No matter how many times I see that video, when the music kicks in at 40 mins, and he realises he's done it at 9 mins, gets me it does!

Same here with my dizzler Saxo - I was surprised after years of ownership when I started reading reviews of the AX/106/Saxo that complained about the pedals and offset. It'd never been an issue for me even when wearing heavy-soled boots. I drove an AX all round Ireland on holiday yonks ago and owned a Saxo 1.5D for many years. Found them both very comfy.

Tried to drive a new in the day 306. I have size 12 feet, not recommended.

Bargain at that price if it is as good as suggested. Buy it. Then flog it on here at some point. No way to lose at all.

Used a few 106's in the past which are very similar and whilst size tens weren't ideal, I don't recall ever accidentally hitting two pedals at the same time. I think I learned I needed to keep the accelerator pedal on the left part of my shoe but that wasn't a problem.

I think the pedals are something you have to get used to, which is why mechanics/MoT testers and motoring journalists complain about them.

Yes, I agree. Citroen put an AX GT long term fleet demo into the place I worked , everyone who drove it complained about the pedals. I've got size 12s, and loved the little thing, caned it shitless whenever I could and never once had a problem.

I didn't manage to break it either, which was not always the case, even with brand new demos or especially with brand new demos- because I wouldn't get a bollocking off the Transport Manager if I broke a demo!

I have size 10.5 feet and often wear size 11 clogs

Never had a problem with my AX with regards the pedals.

Treated mine like shit too and ran it on 100% SVO

I used to pilot an AX GT in size 10s and only had a problem with work boots. Normal shoes or trainers were just about ok.

If that was me I would of bought the AX straight away if it's rot free...that's got to be a one off with that mileage on a diesel.

We've had a couple of them in the family over the years and had nothing but trouble free motoring out of them..

You might be able to find one for a couple of hundred if you look about but you could spend a grand on it and it still won't be as good as a nice straight low mileage example especially if that cars a keeper..
