NEC show 13-15 Nov

Parking is £12 this year! And it sounds like new barriers may make it impossible to avoid paying. £7 at the train station, which gives entirely covered walkway access to the halls, or I'm looking at parking at a nearby train station and paying £2 (yes £2) for the three minute train journey.

I'm thinking of going on Saturday with mrs fp, I'll bite the bullet with the parking as I can't be bothered to mess about.

Seriously, just park at the train station. Apparently it's only a fiver at weekends. Plus if it's pissing down, your entire journey from car to halls is indoors. Unlike if you pay £12...

That's a very good idea Ian re the nearby station thing, as it also saves being stuck in the inevitable M42 mega congestion.  I wasn't going to bother this year, but quite fancy going now so I'll be there Friday.

Looks like I'll be there on the Saturday. First time I've been so rather looking forward to it.

cheers mr wobbler i didnt realise that, it makes perfect sense to park on there, not been the nec for anything before so didnt realise, i presume the multi storey carpark is the one to go for?

is it really sad that the main reason i want to go is to see that beautiful wedge that rovamota and friends have restored

Yup. The only issue tends to be that you need to pay for your parking before you leave, and every single time, I forget where the paying machines are (they're actually in the train station building).

With the parking thing - we've been sent parking passes as per normal which wouldn't work with a automated barrier so I'm not totally convinced that has changed.

Also, thanks to a delivery from France that arrived this morning, if you need a model of a Yugo Sana or Daewoo Espero whilst you are at the NEC then I'm your man :)

I am now a confirmed Saturday person

Going up in a gang of four in a LPGd XJR in Mica Blue, no less

Plan *was* to park at the station but it looks like half of BookFace sent that idea viral   and f#cked it up

Shock horror, for once I might have to actually pay for a ticket and then full parking ! Shocker

I am pleased to say I won't be going, it's not the cost or the distance, I just can't cope with lots of people in one place and apparently you are not allowed to push them out of the way. I would kindly request that those who do go take plenty of photographs for me to look at on here, so I can see what I missed.

I'm going up with 3 mates on the Saturday so will split the car park between us if we have to pay.

Really? The Classic Motor Show's own website recommends going to the station.

I only collect models of cars I've owned, but damnit, an Espero would be hard to resist.

If it helps, wearing a giant backpack and carrying a 70-200mm lens or five seems to work for people at The Photography Show, it's like your own personal bubble...

I'm there all 3 days and will be giving rides for sporting bears on the Sunday.

Don't know why but I really like this show and it seems to close the classic car year off nicely.

Looks like I'll be walking to New St and getting the train along then this year.

I plan to be wandering about on Saturday.

My gaffer is going and is threatening to bring a P6 back.

If anyone hears a Yorkshireman shouting at people who don't believe he's got 250k miles out a K-series that's him.

I was wondering two things?

1) How hot does it get in there.

2) Could we have the photo threads lumped in colours? IE Blue car thread, then you could have 10 threads all different.

Posted

I'm moving house, which is only marginally more expensive and stressful than NEC parking and attendance.  Wanted to be there this year to see the orange Princess but never mind.

I will have to live this through you lot who are going. Tons of piccies please.

Meet at the Popular Modern Classics stand at midday?

I'm up for this, midday Saturday. Anyone else?

Where is the Modern Classics stand, I can't find any info?

Good point.  Bauer Media are spread about:

Practical Classics 4-620

Classic Car Weekly 3-630

Classic Cars 2-660

Make that Practical Classics then as it's right by the live stage in Hall 4?

I'll try and remember to be there, but may be running around like a giddy baby giraffe.

I'd like to meet up but there's a few of us going and I'm meeting another chap there too so I can't commit to being anywhere for a specific time sadly.
