Skizzer Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 She nearly ran me over in that Audio cabrio once. It was outside the cement works in Fulham (no, really). Good luck with the collection. Top tip: leave the handbrake alone. RichardK, J-Rod and purplebargeken 3

Junkman Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 She nearly ran me over in that Audio cabrio once. It was outside the cement works in Fulham (no, really). I was outside the cement works in Fulham myself and there was no Princess Die in an Aldi cabrio.

Crusty Sills Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Well just in time for our Indian summer! I have collect my new shite. A 1995 Audi Cabriolet . It has 9 months MOT and cost £500 which I thought was ok, obviously being a AutoShite it has a few problems, most notably the roof doesn't go back, it has a manual roof and the deck lid doesn't release. Engine seems strong but runs a little lumpy think a good service will sort it out, paint work a bit shit in places, a rusty front wing, it has horrid alloys which will go very soon and the car is filthy so a few things to do and tidy. I know some people are going to hate it but I quite like it. Grundig, anonymous user, fotorabia and 13 others 16
Vince70 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I had a real nice one for a couple of years and the old Audi Cabriolet is really a good motor... if I remember there's a button inside the drivers door panel which you press to pop the roof panel up.. If you have troubles with the roof or the rear boot lock it's normally just the wiring that gets frayed between the boot and bodywork.. It can cause quite a few electrical gremlins
billyboy406v6 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Who was this Prince Diana ? carlo 1
mercrocker Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 It used to amuse me to measure the time-span between Fulham Princess/Futbal WAG to council house front garden. Audi Cabrios of the Die-another day-ana era seemed to make this transition almost as quickly as post-P38 Range Rovers. As, it seemed, did Escort Ghias for that matter. Metro VPs, on the hand seemed to skip that period of falling from grace and went straight into "Bloody hell, where did they all go?" mode. Just an aside, really! What I do remember quite vividly about the Di Audi is the amount of kerfuffle it caused when she first had it cos German. Strange, given the first motor of choice for British (nee German!) royalty was the Daimler - then still very much an offshoot of Gottlieb's Motoren gesellschaft thingy. Vince70 1
stripped fred Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 That looks nice for £500. I wonder what it will be worth when you've sorted it's issues? And what engine is it?
cort1977 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I like these, always felt they were the last of the old-school Audis before the total blandness set in. brickwall, Shep Shepherd and Vince70 3
Uncle Jimmy Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 God damn it, stop with the XJS'. I won't feel special anymore We're all a bit 'special' on here.I'm become distraught by the tat recently purchased on here. The recent Rickman Ranger and multiple Scimitar threads are haunting me. purplebargeken Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Quickly, drive over to Fulham and try and run someone over by the cement works. I used to work in Fulham and never knew that there was a cement works there until now. It just goes to show that you can always learn something new.
brickwall Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Who was this Prince Diana ? Will CArling was banging here
Crusty Sills Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Really wanted a '92/93 but this was close by and firmly in budget.I think this would be classed as the end of the series 1 as it has no boot mounted brake light and still has the head rests with a hole in them. The later had projector headlights which I think look crap.Get me with the knowledge!!
Crusty Sills Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Oh and it has a 2 litre engine with a whopping 115BHP
Ghosty Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Ah, 2.0E. Good engine, as with all the old 80 engines.N-reg would indeed be around the end of early ones - you have the 80 door handles that are flush with the door (later ones are rounded as opposed to rectangular), orange side markers and the black oval Audi badge on the front wings - by 1997 these things were all gone and interiors were duller too. A4s went through the same changes in '97 - meanwhile the 100 just got an A6 badge as a tide-over until the new model was ready. These very early A4s on N and P still used the old 2.6E V6 from the 80/Coupe/Cabrio, later they changed to a 2.8 that also comes in late Cabrios. Any Audi that predates the projector headlight thing is a good'un.
RichardK Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Damn it. Now you've bought a cabriolet it's going to piss down constantly, you do realise that right?
