Skizzer Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 We thought about Woollarding but the front bumper doesn't stick out enough - super streamlined Audi aerodynamics, innit. Jacket hanging up in proper executive style: Just got home, 260 executive miles later. The Audi feels like it's two years old, not twenty-odd. Everything works. Smooth ride, zero wind noise and not much road roar even on the concrete bits of the M25. Radio works and sounds great (bit ugly though - might get swapped for a period Blaupunkt I have spare). Plenty of power and light on fuel. Good supportive seats. Like. Finally for now, the money shot: holbeck, drum, Sudsprint and 16 others 19

RobT Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Great thread Skizzer. Weekday shite collections after work are the way forward I reckon, makes the being at work bit more bearable! Skizzer 1
danthecapriman Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Looks a very nice car. Nice colour too. Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks chaps. Are you two brothers? Not as far as we know, but anything's possible I suppose. I'm definitely not Jeremy Corbyn though. Oh, nearly forgot - spots on the way back:Ford Cargo recovery truck in Vantman's local pez station (but out of pez, so didn't stop)Slightly shonky X-reg Granada mk2 towing a boat near Avonmouth (too dark by then, also I was busy driving)This LWB Daihatsu Fourtrack pickup: Executive bedtime now. Night night.
Jon Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 That does look like a very nice Audi but I think you need to get that petrol station shot down to Heddlu pronto, as there's a group of men clearly kidnapping Brian the insurance robot. brownnova, Skizzer, Magnificent Rustbucket and 3 others 6
Pillock Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Plenty of power and light on fuel.Much like my 90Q, although that was "plenty of power and fuel light on". All the time. inconsistant, Bear, Skizzer and 4 others 7

Vantman Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Good to meet you Skizzer and glad you had a safe journey back. I hope your wife likes the executive transport! Where did you get fuel? Skizzer 1
oldcars Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 That looks ace for the money. Tyres look dressed to, gr8 seller wuld deal again Skizzer 1
The Moog Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I reckon if you had private plate most people couldn't guess the age of that bad boy. Executive class in a cognac glass Skizzer 1
Taff Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Big thanks to Vantman for thorough prepping of car, station pickup and generally being a really nice bloke. As he said - deal was done! image.jpg I'm now 60 miles down the road and this car is flipping excellent. that photo is most excellent and, going out on a limb here, could in time replace the pez photo as the money shot of choice. There, I've said it. Great looking motor, Skizz Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Good to meet you Skizzer and glad you had a safe journey back. I hope your wife likes the executive transport! Where did you get fuel? Likewise! Journey back was smooth, safe and not too trafficky at all, thanks, and the Audi behaved faultlessly. Fuelled up at a BP garage on the A228 just by West Malling in the end. I was rather sad that your local only had diesel, because there's all sorts of interesting chod there for the background of the Petrol Station Shot. Wife is pleased I like it but hasn't bonded with it yet. I think the trouble is it just looks like a regular car to her - even though this is one of the late ones of this shape and it'll be 25 next year, which is hard to believe. Keeper? Good question. It wasn't supposed to be a keeper, but at the moment I'm seriously thinking about selling the liked-but-not-loved modern BMW before it does any more depreciating and using this as the motorway cruiser. I shall trial that for a bit and see how it goes. Bucketeer and chaseracer 2
BorniteIdentity Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 This looks utterly fantastic. Hope to see it around for many more years to come Skizzer 1
Vantman Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I was rather sad that your local only had diesel, because there's all sorts of interesting chod there for the background of the Petrol Station Shot. I will wander in there sometime with my camera,i know the owner as I used to park my tanker there. I know he has a Ford Louiseville wrecker under wraps there which he refuses to sell, shame really as it's been under a tarp for about ten years. Skizzer and Slappy 2
Skizzer Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 I reckon if you had private plate most people couldn't guess the age of that bad boy. Agreed. An ageless plate would actually complete the proper old-money giffer look, though I can't see me actually shelling out for one. I will be sacking off the fake German number plates soon though and getting sensible pre-2001 font ones. Mrs S likes that the original 'Schon mit Katalysator Technik' sticker, which is still present in the back window, is in German. trigger and Vantman 2
EssDeeWon Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Why don't they still build cars like that!? Ah I know, because they are good for 250k and 30+ years (less profit) Now major things are going tits up after 70k and 5 years (more profit) Skizzer, J-Rod, hauserplenty and 1 other 4
Tetleysmooth Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The original steel wheels and covers look good, but can't help thinking a set of minilite style alloys would set that off a treat. I had a feeling in me bones that was going to be a good 'un.
Skizzer Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 minilite style alloys The later B4 ones did have a minilite-alike alloy option that worked: but it's not very me. The multi-spoke B3 quattro ones look good though: Bet they're plentiful* and cheap*. A foglight front bumper like that one would complete the look very nicely indeed.
EssDeeWon Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Na, leave it as is. Old money number plates would look good though in pre 2001 font. MS 1

r.welfare Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Is the boot unusably small or not too bad? Contemporary reviews seem to grouse about this, the high list price and poor ventilation. My brother had the later type 2.0e with the bigger front end and boot which seemed a good car although this was a decade ago so my memory is quite hazy. I think Audi went overboard on the galvanising of these and the first aero 100s because you still rarely see rusty ones, whereas the later 90s versions seem to corrode a little more readily around the front wheel arches.
holbeck Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I find myself to be quietly hoping Mr. Skizz doesn't bond with it... stillOrange, EssDeeWon, Skizzer and 2 others 5
TagoraSX Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Excellent purchase. From an era when Audi made proper cars, the design has aged very well. If I didn't already have too many cars a 5 cylinder 90 would be in my collection. Keep the wheel trims! Skizzer and EssDeeWon 2
