Tomorrow is my 45th Birthday.

This got me thinking about any shite that went into production in 1970.

Has anyone got any 1970 shite registered in August or any month in 70?

What have you got? stories photos anything with wheels and or an engine

1970 child here too. If I was to pick anything from that year it'd have to be the Range Rover.

Another 1970's child here. I think the Datsun 240Z was released in 1970 too. I wouldn't mind a go in that...

Many happy returns. I was 45 last week, spent it in Singapore ! Nearest car I have to 1970 is my 1963 Ford Anglia.

Many Happy Returns for the morning.

I did have a 1970 Land Rover Series 2a Station Wagon but sold it when we moved from Shetland several years ago - it's still earning its keep up here though, I see it around quite often

The beginning of the Mark 111 Cortina and Ford AVO, but the end of Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

Happy birthday.

Bought my only ever new car in 1970. An Australian Mini K 1100 ( K for Kangaroo and it did have a Kangaroo on the badge!). Purchased from Lark Hoskins in Canberra for approx. $A2000 Long gone though, sold when I moved to UK.

Our Herald was built within the last couple of weeks of production of 1200s in June '70.  It sat in a showroom until early '71 though, which is hardly surprising.

Happy Birthday! I was 45 in May. 45 is a good age to start worrying about being 50.

Happy Birthday!

I was eleven in Aug 1970 my dad had a 1968 (F) Vauxhall Victor 2000 FB saloon bought new as a company car that I remember, strange things you remember from child hood, I remember him saying the under dash tray cost extra. I also remember him saying later it was worn out after 55,000 miles when it was under 3 years old.

My mum had a 1956 VW Beetle with oval rear window which overheated if you drove it fast.

My farther used to take me to the London Motorshow every year in October and I would pour over the brochures I had bagged for hours…..

My earliest proper memory was watching TOTP with my folks, aged 4. Rod Stewart singing Maggie may, and Slade doing 'Coz I luv you.  November 1971.

In 1970 I was 10 & my Father was running a white Mk 2 Ford Cortina estate, JOD 143 E. My Mum had an Austin Se7en Mini, 458 EUO.

The local Ford dealers, Raleigh Garage on Bideford supplied Dad's business with Ford Escort vans and I spent ages hanging around in their showroom-I must have been an awful pain in the neck for the sales people!

Bloody hell. I remember that Mini!

Not from 1970 though.

My Dad came from Axminster and my Gran still lives there. In the early eighties, a young bird (called Cynthia iirc) who was a neighbour had a pale grey Austin 7 Mini, a very early one. She had it resprayed metalflake black around 1981 and added Wolfrace wheels. I can remember reg numbers like almost nobody else and I'm 99% sure that's what it was. I recall my Dad saying how rare it was (even then) and what a pity it was to 'ruin' it. If I recall correctly, she got it from a motor trade acquaintance of my Grandads in Honiton. Sound about right? EUO is a Devon number plate.

It's not been taxed since 1984 so perhaps it's still around, the proverbial barn find.

Another 1970 kid here!

Happy Birthday!

I am just two weeks younger than you and am already bleating about approaching 50 too soon.

The only 1970 thing I've had was this I rescued from a MOT failure doom, got it back on the road and kept for a year of happy family motoring and sold on to a mate who has made it quite famous in DAFT Facebook circles and Wikipedia paging.

Happy Birthday ! Lots of us the same age it seems.

I too will be turning 45 this year, I'll need to start planning something suitable to do on the big day (start of October), I have evil thoughts of taking Mrs gm away for a weekend in York then spending hours in the railway museum. She'd probably leave me to it and bugger off to the shops :)

Same here, but my dad had a new dark blue R16 TL. My mom had her usual new 4L and I had a Kettler Kettcar, a 1968 model.

Happy birthday. I turned 45 in March. No grey hairs (coz I'm as bald as a coot!)

Nearest I got was an automatic, i.e. clutch-less manual, 1969 VW Beetle owned from 1997 to 1999.

Have a look at The Adventures of Don Quick on You Tube, a space age comedy/drama from 1970 starring Ian Hendry and Ronald Lacey (the melting Nazi from Indiana Jones and The Lost Ark). So cool, and a stunning digital title sequence and theme music.
