Looks tidy, but anything to look out for on these? Front discs and pads come in at about £70 on ECP if that's all the slight squeak from the front wheels are.

Rot in the front footwells, lift the carpet to check that the seam sealer between the wheel arch, bulkhead and floorpan has blown and let the rust faeries in.

Rusty brake pipes. General neglect. They are crap on fuel. That said, if you maintain them well they do big mileages with little downtime.

Lucas Calipers ? The Collette Caliper ? They main them by the millions, in all 5 continents, ( 2 different European factories, ).  Basic design was pretty good. If they stick they can be sorted easy enough.

Probably dead reliable, but that seems insane money for an unpopular car of that age. Still, it's not all about the money.

Recent 4 Continental tyres says a lot, previous owner cared enough to pay up for those so rest of car probably similarly looked after, recent cambelt, get down there.

Groaning rear diff on  cornering on full lock I seem to remember, can be cured by changing the fluid for the all singing all dancing correct Honda Fluid something to do with the dual pump activating rear diff.

 

If the fluid has been changed recently make sure its DPS-F fluid only, anything else fucks the system up.

Well, we went and had a look, and its quite clean tbh. Has had a smack on the rear bumper, which has snapped a clip off, and loosened 2 others. There's a slight rattle on acceleration up to 2.5k, then it stops. We plan to fix this by binning the clips that are left and putting some cable ties in.

 

EML came on when we fired her up, I had my bluetooth obd reader in which diagnosed it as a slight misfire on cylinder 2. Cleared the code, and it stayed off for the whole test drive so we think either new spark plugs, or it's just not been used much recently and needs a good drive.

 

Apart from that, the tyres are good, discs and pads will past a bit longer, idles nicely, pulls well, stops ok. £100 deposit has been left, and the seller photocopied all the docs needed to get tax and insurance, so gareth will do that tomorrow.

 

 

The guy also spoke favourably about the ZX, which never happens. He apparently quite likes his 1.9tds, says he sells them very quickly when he gets one in. Was not at all shocked by my 278,900 miles on the clock!

 

Proper collectioning shall happen tomorrow lunchtime.

I didnt buy it, just helped along. Now belongs to the ginger man as pictured!. Dont think the guy was prepared for me running and grabbing my reader, he was quite interested in it!

 

If the seller had bothered to hoover it out, and maybe take the rubbish out and wipe the palstics down he could have asked more, but then we wouldnt have been able to see it in it's naked honest glory.

Do these come with a shower? I seem to remember an advert for them making a big deal about that.

Nope, no shower, intentional or unintentional (we was brave and opened the big sunroof in the rain!)

Yes, there was a special edition with a shower in the back.  Great cars these, I loved mine, massively useful and dead reliable but my word they do like a drink.

Was that from Chalfont Family Cars? I bought the 75 from them and they seemed honest, and slightly eccentric part time dealers. I remember him saying he just couldn't sell the thing, not even as a station car for the well heeled residents of those parts. £395 with a full test seemed value to me even if it was an old Rover, so his luck was in when I turned up.

The same thought crossed my mind, the place being buried in the woods.  SWMBO stayed in the car when we rolled up, but they were decent enough.

Cant find one for sale anywhere. Apparently they did a fold out picnic table though, will have to check for that, we didnt lift the carpets up in the boot

My 75 has a shower in the boot, fingers crossed i can get rid of that option extra when i replace the rear lamp gaskets.
