My dad ran big Peugeots in the 'seventies which is probably why I like them - very smooth riding cars.

I would also like to own an ISO Fidia or Lele. And a V12 Jaguar or Daimler - Series 2, XJ-S or XJ40, I'm not fussy. And a Mk2 Granada 2.8 Ghia. That has to be crystal green with a brown velour interior and quite specifically the higher grade Ghia which Ford made before the Ghia X was introduced. I'd quite like the 604 to be metallic brown, metallic red or light Ivory, with a tan leather interior. Automatic, obviously. Early car please, with nice mirrors and round fuel filler. While I am at it, I think I shall also want a Camargue - pre facelift with the wonky rear suspension but lovely chrome highlights on the flanks they so egregiously deleted from the late ones. A crime against style, that was. And an SD1. Richelieu red, very early series 1 automatic.

The Renner 4 Van I turned down 5 years ago at £400 because I didn't have the cash to my name. Was a proper barn find and just needed brake tinkering.

The Mk1 Golf C 1.3 Formel-E that I was offered at £350 by a scrappy mate and was entirely rust free. Had it running round his yard with some tinkering. Ran away from that because the owner was in prison for using it in a ram-raid on the local Somerfield. No kidding.

BAH!

Fiat 2300S coupe - the poor mans Ferrari.

I have wanted one since I was a kid and was driven around the Brands club circuit in one, but have a suspicion that all these years of want will leave me hugely disappointed as I wouldn't get to drift it around long sweeping bends.

Lucky to have owned alot of stuff that I've wanted but some have escaped me, among them are:

Mini Cooper S - a proper 60's one, pref Mk1 slidey windows, cordpull doors, could've had one for a grand or so in the 80's. Stupid boy.

Cit XM - as someone said, the good ones are a bit pricey now (but I still might....), cheap ones are moneypits.

BMW M3 (E30) - though not a beemer-man, these are something special to drive, never cheap as such but not that long ago £5K could get a pretty reasonable one.

Escort RS2000 (Mk2) - in a Bodie&Doyle style, that being my era! Really missed the boat big-time on these, kicking myself for not getting one in the 90's when they were bargains compared even then to Mk1's. I'm an Idiot.

Jensen Interceptor MK. 2

Me mate bought one when he was 22 for £3800, taxed and MOT'd. It had one area of rust around a wheelarch, but other than that there was nowt wrong with, engine spot on, this was only in 2003 - no way you'd find that now.

don't bother. they blow their turbo's for a pastime, you can't get R12 for the APU and don't even get me started on the robustness of the RBJ...

it won't rust, though

Those have slowly moved from "expensive" to "obscene" over the last few years. Having said that, they're still a bargain* compared to later/earlier models...
