Now that the Saab has got its ticket its time to move on the 405.

1996 Estate

1.9td with Lucas pump

240k

Good bitz

Mot mid August

It's Free*

Never had FTP

Diesel so decentish MPG

Red (fastest colour)

Finest 1990s Peugeot stereo with steering wheel controls

Airbag (never been used)

Immobiliser

Half of the central locking works

Holes in the front doors that can be filled by the touch of a button

PAS

3 Goodyear tyres

Massive amount of history

New rad recently.

Personalised plate (if you have a hairpiece)

Battery only 3 months old

Not so smashing

Runs a bit hot. On motorway around 90. Had it checked and just seems to one of those things. Fans kick in ok.

Front anti roll bar bushes gone so clonks

Wishbone bushes need replacing so can be a little wandery

Handbrake is as effective as a Boris Johnson chastity belt (always leave it in gear)

Lacquer peel to da Max

Drivers door hinge dropped a bit so can be noisy ( turn radio up)

1 pirelli tyre (spare as 1 tyre for puncture)

Been touched with amber metal stick in a couple of places.

Drinks a bit of water

Been used to take stuff up the tip and move house

Overall it is a bit of a workhorse. Without getting bushes done it is unlikely to pass MOT, so would suggest running it to end of test then bridge it.

I have put 6k on it in the last 3 months with no hassles.

I am only offering it here for few days as I would rather someone use it than scrap it.

Price £130 - this is what car take back has offered me. Buy it, run till test runs out, get your money back... It's Free*

Located in the Tourist centre of Lancashire - Accrington

That looks nice enough. If my ZX is a benchmark for bush replacement it's probably only a mornings work to get it re-bushed!

Posted

Looks can be deceiving.. The photos flatter it.

Good workhorse but probably not worth the cash spending on it. If you were to do all bushes your self then fair enough. Replacement arms are about £45.

Cheaper to replace it with Saab 95

Wor Will was proper taken with Gary_Cox's example at Shitefest, so I am now going to ply him with a beer or three, and point him in this general direction.

I thought this had no boot floor, looking at the photo.

That's some serious grit inside a car achievement.

Fuckin hell I really don't need this but I do want it... Is it still up for grabs?

Awwww, I could have taken this to Finland after I visit Costa del Accrington.

Oh well, you snooze you lose.

Can you arrange to get fed up with the Saab in about a month's time please?

Posted

Quite enjoying the refinement of the Saab after the agricultural pug, so unlikely to happen

Shame missus Moog is liking the civic otherwise you could have had that one.

Even I am not that desperate.

Handed keys to Tom and it has gone off into the sunset*

Very odd to drive after the Saab. Feels very slow (thought i had a sticky calliper to start with) but much more connected to the road. Still a good looking car.

PAS on Saab is super light, whereas the pug feels meaty more real somehow

*well a dreary day in Preston..
