I know this is an old favourite on here, but I've just noticed - it's probably the only car in that neighbourhood where you can get in or out the kerbside door.

I could happily search thru my entire picture collection trying to find that pristine Jetta, or shabby Solara, or even the multicoloured mk2 Fiesta that really has no right to be in daily use. However, the first thing that came to mind is this:

OK, not quite one pic, but I reckon this car sums up the essence of autoshite for me.

That Sunny coupe adds an extra touch of 'appeal' by being automatic. Some of the coupes had a 5-speed 'box which is worth £££'s to Spridget/kit people, but no, that one had to come with a 3-speed auto.I've got to dig out my favourite pic, got a couple of contenders...

This one sums it up for me. This would have been June 1988. The engine has been lifted out of the blue Viva and installed in the green one, which I bought for £45 without an engine. I'm the one actually doing something, everybody else, except the guy with the axe, was just getting in the way. The axe guy stood on the inner wings and lowered the engine into place while I stood under him on the ground in the engine bay and guided it into place. All this took place in the street and the green car had no tax or MOT. :D Oh, and I needed the car to get to work that day.

The big end bearings wore out within the week and the engine seized within a fortnight.

^^^^^^^ LOL That is well funny, especially the getting to work bit! HAhahaha :D:D:D:D

I was torn between this, the Zodiac aircraft carrier I saw in Yarmouth and a field of tat (which has been my desktop at work for ages now). But it was the fact I saw this at a boot sale, and it was driven by Bert and Dot (Sid n' Doris's down-at-heel, slightly unkempt relatives) despite looking like it should have been stashed away and left to moulder or scrapped years ago...
