Just driving through Attleborough just now and I saw a black Chrysler 180 come past. Gleaming! Was this just a mirage, or is this car known to us? UK plates, but was too gob-smacked to take any details in.

It does exist! I've seen a few photos of it now, apparently it's recently come out if long term storage, these were taken by "Spottedlaurel".

That's the one Trig. It looked amazing as it trundled past. Good weather is a good thing. I taxed the Jag again this morning, fresh MOT and service last week. May take it for a spin and see if I can track it down for some pics.

You could order it in black.

But contrary to nowadays, back in the Seventies, when eveything was still nicer and better,

people had taste and thus black was not a very popular colour choice.

Amazing ergonomics with the temperature guage dead centre and the speedo hidden by your hand on the wheel!

The temperature gauge is probably the one you want to watch most as it's more likely the cause of problems than speeding!

That is stunning though, proper gearbox too! Another car added to my bucket list.

Black Chrysler 180s are the vehicle of choice for communist spies.

The stale bread roll nailed to the steering wheel is fookin ace.

I never understood why these were so unpopular when currant. I always liked them.

I think I may have spotted said car on the A143 heading towards Diss the other day.

Dad had one of these from brand new back in the seventies, in gold. It blew its head gasket before three thousand miles on holiday in Scotland, none of the garages wanted to know because they'd never seen one before. He drove back very carefully with the rad cap loose to the dealers in Newcastle-U-Lyme and they fixed it under warranty. Never had another problem after that.

Let us not forget in the old days, black paint cost you extra.

Did anyone else spot the 180 in that 'Code Of A Killer' the other week? Gold, L reg I think

My Dad had a gold 2-litre when I was but a nipper. Mum had a Simca 1301 estate at the time too, complete with the picnic table boot floor thing. People of taste, my parents 8)

Pretty sure I have pics of the Chrysler somewhere...

Even in the 70's stuff was set up for LHD, speedo would have been perfect for wrong side driving.

ISTR I had a set of those clocks as a trophy in my teenage bedroom that I liberated from a demic Simca 1501

The steering wheel on the 180 looks identical to the one from a 70's dodge monaco.
