RetroShite Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Some more arrivals plus painted the cortina all one colour. It was labelled as cosmos blue but upon opening the tin it was clearly too dark. By that point we just thought fuck it, it'll do. Looks fine from 20 feet. Scruffy Bodger, Tenmil Socket, Tickman and 7 others 10

Pieman Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Did you put the BMW in front of the No Parking sign just to fit the stereotype?
JeeExEll Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Cosmos blue is a light metallic. How can they get that so wrong? Shite Ron 1
CortinaDave Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Yeah looks more like midnight blue now which was another mk4 colour. Whatever it is, all one colour is a bonus Shite Ron 1

Got unfinished business with Montegos, particularly diesel estates, and I've got a spare set of unused 6n Polo coilovers sat around... Edit: I loved this piece of shit, but it was rotten. Utterly rotten, and a load of oil had been spilled on the back seat. Sills and pillars made of wob and rolled up newspapers... So rattle cans and drunken lowering it was. Wibble and Matty 2
High Jetter Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Drove them new. Our drummer had an estate, got most of the lighting rig in too
Wibble Posted June 4 Posted June 4 14 minutes ago, High Jetter said: Drove them new. Our drummer had an estate, got most of the lighting rig in too So did I. Can’t remember but it would have been around 1993 when I had a call from the lease fleet manager at Thames Water, asking me to take a new Montego Countryman diesel for a run. It had been on loan as a demonstrator for a month and no one had used it and it was due back the next day. She asked me to take it for the night and put as many miles on it as you can and gave me a £20 fuel voucher. It was ok to be fair. Far better than the 1.6L I’d had for 6 months previously. British racing green, decent spec and I put 110 miles on it that night before taking the now Mrs W home. Fleet manager was happy it didn’t go back with no miles added. It really was quite enjoyable. mk2_craig, High Jetter, Jenson Velcro and 1 other 4

RetroShite Posted June 5 Posted June 5 I picked up this Polo over a year ago and sold it cheap with no mot and no V5. Got it back recently with a v5 and 10 months mot for not much more than I sold it for. There was a lot of surface rust along the bottom of the doors, sills, arches etc so I ordered some paint and chucked some at it. Quite pleased with the result and because it's only the lower area of the car it doesn't really stand out that much. Tenmil Socket, rainagain, Wibble and 9 others 12

I think it was a 4 speed with the 1-3 fairly normal and then 4th was about the same as 6th on modern cars. On a long hill on a motorway it was impossible to maintain 70 in 4th, so you had to change down to 3rd with it revving it’s nuts off. Still it started every day first time, which was more than you could say for my Fiesta of the same age.
