Is there a good place to get Irwin in the UK generally? I find a lot on Amazon but have fear of buying counterfeit stuff when buying on price.

Halfords Advanced toolchest

There's one at the bike shop I've recently started volunteering at - really really really top quality stuff + lifetime warranty

I have one of Titans, used it loads when we had loads of plaster/rubble dust everywhere. Now used in the valeting department of my garage.

I just keep emptying the one bag they gave me as well and carrying on, it's ace.

Recommended by Beko as well, he gave me the link when I wanted a cheap vacuum.

A Record Vice. Not one of the crap new ones but a proper tough as nails 1950's Sheffield made job. Great for holding stuff in, pressing bearings in etc.

I'm lucky to have gathered most of what I needed over the last 20 odd years of fettling. I can recommend the Halfords stuff without hesitation.

The screwdriver set is especially good and I have a couple of sets one for the garage and one for the car.

I have also found the cheapy magnetic trays found at autojumbles everywhere to be really helpful, also the claw and magnet type things on the end of a flexible shaft are very useful too.

I bought a precision oiler at an autojumble a couple of years ago. It is a really old piece of kit, looks almost as if it is from the 1930's but it works perfectly and delivers a perfect dollop of light oil just where needed. It cost me all of 5 quid..

+1 I'd be lost without my record vice, i had one of them new no doubt Chinese made vices and snapped the jaws in 2 with not much force, so I got an old record vice from a tat stall at an auto jumble, i reckon the thing will outlast me I've given it above and beyond the welly I gave the new crap thing and it's not even broke a sweat

I went to Cromwell Tools, the over the counter prices seem to be cheaper than it says in the catalogue too, which is nice.

Home made hook (20 years ago at least) for guiding springs into their intended position...........bloody brilliant for brake springs.

+1 more for Record vices - I've got a couple of old ones and wouldn't be without them. You can sometimes get them cheap (well cheap-ish) from the smaller autojumbles.

And can recommend Tork rag dispensers, I got a couple free from work for garage and workshop when they were chucking them out in favour of new ones. Just needed a couple of keys (£1 each from Tork).

Okay, here's another one, with the caveat that I'm waiting for my latest order to show up. Assuming these are the same as the one I recently lost...

These are usually dirt cheap on Amazon.

These are a couple of quid typically

Thanks, I bought a couple of these, they are brill

and amongst other things, showed that the fag lighter in the bay which is supposed to be powered by the leisure battery

is actually powered by the starter battery - back to the electricians, I suspect.

In my job I come across cash drawers bolted through wooden shelves/over fitted drawers &ff-akward gaps :(

I have a 99p $hite hopeless one already and it is a lifesaver for leverage at 0% access - so happy chappie that this is a sturdier bit of kit.

Was it the rattle from my maxi engine or just this pic that gave me away?
