The car you've always promised yourself (not necessarily a Capri)

I've owned far too many cars, mainly as I get bored easily, but do tend to buy similar ones that I like over and over again. I'm now getting on a bit and have had just about every car I've fancied (I am lucky that I don't desire exotica) plus loads that I just bought anyway and mostly got them out of my system; there are a few cars I wouldn't mind trying again though. Most have been enjoyed and lived up to, or exceeded, expectations, some (I'm looking at you Bond Bug) I wish I hadn't tried. The only things left that I really would like to try are a Bristol, preferably a 407, a Morris Minor Traveller and a Bentley Turbo R. I have driven all of them, so know that side won't be a disappointment, but have no idea what they would be like to live with. I doubt that I will ever be able to afford to buy and run a Bristol or Bentley so expect I they will end up as an unfullfilled wish. The Minor is a likely candidate as my retirement car, unless I go for another Series Land-Rover.

So sorry for the rambling, but what's on your wish list, how likely do you think you are to get one and do you think it will live up/down to your expectations?

Car: Lotus Carlton.

Likelihood of getting one: 0/15.6,000,000.

Expectations: It would live up to my hopes so much, the interior would resemble a bomb being dropped on a bukaki factory, just as the industrial vat of dinner time yoghurt was being delivered.

lincoln continental IV or V, a proper full on full sized yank, in all its gordie, over the top gorgeous-ness.

Car: Ford Cortina Crusader 2.0 saloon.

Likelihood of getting one: Virtually nil nowadays - I wish I'd bought one in the mid 1990s.

Expectations: A slightly sleeker Volvo 240 GL saloon with more interior wood, slightly more glass area and far more rust.

Escort Cosworth. Completely standard, in metallic dark blue. I'd probably just sit in it for a few hours before thinking about droving anywhere.

I could list all the cars I want, it's a long list, but the one that I'd love to try out some day and stand only the barest hope of doing so is any Tiffany, though most specifically this car.  I have no idea how appalling it will be, but I'm pretty sure I'll love driving it around and looking at it because, as has been previously stated, the only taste I have is in my mouth.

Other than the ones I have..... Ferrari Mondial

Also I kinda ended up making a bet with a mate that if he gets his beard transplant I would buy a cheap Rolls Royce to swan about in 'cause fuck it.

MG Maestro EFi

Chances of finding one that isn't prohibitively far away - near zero

Or an S&M so I can pretend to be a French pimp or a 70s porn star.

The more I think about this the more I want. The one that has always been on the list though is Derby Bentley.......chances of ownership are slim to FA.

Then comes a mk6 or early type r Bentley.......ownership maybe getting more possible............well maybe an outside chance one day. Have driven one and still love them.

I don't do the lottery so it's going have to be a robbery or web based scam........

The bestest 4x4 i ever owned was a 90's built 70 series Landcruiser, the model in the pic is one of the last limited run of the ones currently being made, after that i think its only continued as a troop carrier spec.

For Japan only, so the only way to get one is by personal import.

Still basically the same no nonsense 70 series of old, but the latest batch have the seriously powerful 4.0 litre V6 petrol engine.

The 90 series (Colorado) i have now is the natural heir to the 70 and n reality unless i was daft enough to clean mesen out then keeping older LC's going is the more sensible option.post-17700-0-99545400-1425928207_thumb.jpgpost-17700-0-83329100-1425928869_thumb.jpg

Honda integra type r dc2 . I do have first refusal on a lovely one when he decides to sell it .

I want an FMR Tg500 - shame one will cost me £90k-£120k.

I've had most of the cars on my bucket list. I've had a hangar full of cars in my time, so I have been pretty lucky. None of them would be out of place here luckily.

So, whats left.

Something American like a Chevy Impala, Chevy Stepside, Crown Victoria.

A VW Transporter

I guess, the Yank Tank or a little Simca 1000 in baby blue.

The Yank for the sheer hell of it. The Simca 'cos Mum had one and she loved it.

There you go. Sorted.

+1 but I want the lux pack in Mallard Green

Posted

A Tatra truck. preferably 8x8 but any would be great

would settle for a Kamaz

Not much likelyhood of either, plus I would need more space to play with them

Attainable dream is an early Rolls Royce silver shadow before they put those awful bumpers on

Austin Seven RP box saloon

Always wanted one they are getting quite pricey though. Likelihood of getting one in the near future is pretty low for that reason; plus wife wants a narrow boat, Whereas I want a 50year barn stored steam tractor that may be available soonish; bank account terrified at either prospect and both would require major sacrifices.

Driven a few sevens and I love them to bits so think the ownership experience would be fine

I like Fords, and although I've never been without at least one old Ford I'll still always favour them.

So based on that I'll say a mk3,4,5 Cortina. Must be at least a 2.0 and must be an auto, cos manuals suck!

And/or mk1 Granada 3.0, preferably in high spec estate flavour, auto only.

I've also always had a thing for old yanks, and since getting my Mercury it's the route I intend to stick with and keep sampling more and more.

But there's also some others just because!

Austin Sheerline/Princess, I love these and I will own one at some point! Really high on my want list.

Jaguar mkX/420G, lovely big Brit brute! What's not to like?

Vauxhall Cresta PC/Viscount.

Ford Zodiac mk4.

Rover P5 coupe.

Oh, and I've a hankering for another Volvo 244, or 242 if I could get one.

I think I have a problem!

I really really really want a E30 m3 but the prices are way out of reach now, unless I remortgage the house without the missus knowing.

The one I want above all others is a '58 Edsel convertible.

Zero probability of getting one.

My Allegro is a worthy substitute.
