It's because you spend so much time pulling over to go 'wow!'

There is some nice scenery.

Decision made, it's the Audi Convertible for me, I never found time to get the GS out and tyres changed and there is some hope of sunshine over the weekend and I like to risk roof down!

Should I bring these?

It depends whether or not you are happy for all your new interweb friends to think you are running a bath

when you're only trying to have a gentle morning dump.

Pleasure Wagon Boudoir Mode: Activated.

Copious spin-filtered liquid gold installed.

Good, Northern ale chilled.

Weather booked, delivery imminent. Sunblock unearthed.

A good time shall be had by all. Fun and frolics all the way.

I've been having a right mare trying to decide which car to bring, 1st world problems and all that.

I've been trying to work out a pro and cons list....

Cortina Pros - I'd like you all to see it, I was meant to be taking it to Wales anyway, I've fitted a 5 speed box so i could do things like this, it would make some great photos in the Welsh hills, it feels more like an challenge and would be a great story to tell when I get back, it's just a cool car (imho) to travel up in.

Con - it's expensive to run, it's more likely to breakdown on the 750 mile round trip, the seats make my back ache after a while, I wouldn't like to see it get damaged, it's knackering to drive after a while and it's meant to be a wet drive up on the Friday.

Starlet Pros - Cheaper to run, I'd be least worried about it getting damaged, it would be fun on the Welsh lanes and it should be reliable and I'll be happier about you lot taking it for a spin.

Con - It's no Acclaim (like last year) so it feels a bit inferior and unshite like, the engine is noisey (4000 RPM @ 80), it's small so sleeping in it on Friday will be tight err, that's about it.

Starlet seems like the logical choice really doesn't it?

This is Autoshite, A-frame one behind the other.

Trig - bring the Cortina, one drove into the rally field at last nights show and hundreds of heads turned and the lady with me who runs a V12 750i BMW said I like that!

I'm pretty much ready. Bar the small fact I have to go Stockport first thing in morning then go straight to Llangolle,I'm at work till 2.15 this afternoon then have to go fetch ad fit a new rear axle to the xsara. I think I'm gonna be very busy this afternoon.

My sister phoned last night when I was in the middle of getting the car loaded up. She has one of those deals where calls up to an hour are free and she feels cheated if she doesn't use the whole hour. Consequently I haven't managed to wash or hoover the car and I keep remembering things I didn't pack.

I'm over 200 miles from home with the wrong car, hoping to get work sorted today so I can go home tonight. Otherwise tomorrow could be interesting, which will either see me driving over 300 miles to swap cars and collect stuff or me turning up straight from work without various things and in the boring.

I really hope people have done what I asked so I can go home today.

Theres a few bottles of booze, and i have an errand to run tomorrow to get some more...

The waters not for drinking, but at 17p a bottle was cheaper than buying a water container thing!

Did get quilted bog roll though, treat myself...

Your not wrong, the 17p water is what we get camping easier.

Given that my dedication* to the industrial wing of the international workers' movement sees me at a meeting in Lichfield tomorrow morning before leaving for SF, is there anyone coming from/through the Stoke area can pick me up about thirty decent oatcakes?

Cash/beer awaits.

Probably missed it, so excuse me if I did: Is there an itinary of 'events' at all? I'm going to try and come over after work tomorrow, probably be there about 2.30pm, have an hour or so then come back again Sat morning. Don't want to arrive if nobody is about!

Posted

See first post.  Some people may be there at 2.30pm tomorrow but I'm guessing not that many.  Saturday morning = wander round Llangollen museum (optional) then well-ordered convoy random meanderings towards Devil's Bridge at some point, so come early to avoid* disappointment.

Be good if you could make it Billy.

I doubt the m40 convoy will arrive much later than 3 barring major road fuckups

I wouldn't worry about that, I haven't washed or hoovered mine in nearly two years. I like to think that a good coating of crud is a bit like the protective wax they put on new cars so that when it's finally cleaned off (just before you sell it) it will be like having a new car all over again*

* Disclaimer: you will more likely find all the chips and scratches that have rusted and big holes in the carpets where all the grit has worn through

Been called into work in the local A&E to cover shifts, so not available.

Luckily not the local A&E to shitefest, although you might get helicoptered to my grubby mitts if you really fuck up.

Don't fuck up.

"Wash"?  It's the layers of crap outside and in that holds my motors together...

I have washed the Renault, for the first time in the 9 months I've owned it.  You have no idea what an honour this is - it has almost no paint left from a lifetime of loving care with T-Cut and Brillo.

Anyone needs me during SF, you will find me embracing the wondrous beauty that is Skizzer's Renault Seize.  It won't quite be Stu_CDX, but it may be a close thing...  ;)

I've not packed anything yet and my blow up mattress is still missing in action. I have changed the washer bottle in the 740 today so I have washers again.
