Who missed the Mini FoD today then!

Just by chance Anthony G and Andyrew said they would pop by today, I soon had them press ganged into my latest mad cap scheme to return the green Range Rover to the road. It is now booked with a specialist to make it run and MOT. It looked so sad and neglected so todays target was to make it look like a loved vehicle that deserved to be saved.

A little more winterising was also achieved covering a couple more cars and tying the covering on others more firmly.

Thanks for the help guys and for getting me motivated to get up to the FoD today after a wet start today.

As per usual this FoD event was finished with a fish and chip supper, but it is getting cold at the field so in the house.

We do not schedule any winter/early spring dates for the FoD because of the weather and having no indoor space.  Winter 2022 we should have roofed our new barn and be able to.

Yesterday happened on the spur of the moment. AnthonyG was due to come over, Andrew brought some oil over and then the sun shone so we could go to the field.

If you want to come over the Toledo is on hard standing and we could start bolting on some of the parts I have got for it. We could set a provisional date and make the final decision based on weather. We can open up the invitation in case anybody else wants to join us. These will be short days as you will soon be cold enough!

This is why we don't drive in the FoD during the winter, I only just got out of this by the skin of my teeth.

The ends are usually just soldered on so we just need someone handy with a plumbers torch.  Thinking about it I've probably got one somewhere so I'll try to have a practice 😜

I've done the job and it's dead simple!

Would be up for a mini-meet if I can attend. Winter is a quieter time, so any chance to escape the rain in Wales...

That was 2009 and ever since that I have been careful about driving in the field, sometimes not careful enough (2017)!

Today my Clio has been doing a splendid job squeezing into a parking bay that wasn’t really there. The space was wedge shaped and the car next to me was not parked badly just a strange spot had been left from a previous layout that a small nibble car could just about manage. It was a hospital car park, 8 cars looking for spaces and I did spot a Smart car that crammed itself into an impossible corner. I think the Audi A6 that came to take my spot is going to be disappointed!

It was a lovely morning so I came home the long way, stopping looking for a photo location reminded me the curved rear window is the styling feature that is most attractive and was part of my desire to get the Clio in the first place.

I think I found a great spot to photograph my Clio. I wish it was cleaned now and yes it has bad lacquer peel.

being a Hospital I would not be surprised if it was for one specific type of small nimble car!

Ashford comes to a standstill with 1/4" of snow! 🙈

We sometimes have deeper snow that stops most traffic for a few hours.

Cars before work this morning!

After several stalled attempts at putting my green Range Rover back on the road it is going to Blackbird Industries today, with the instructions safe legal and working.

I hope it does not come back bobtailed and full off road spec!

Whose is the E-reg 7er? I like it very much.

What is the brown discharge next to the chips? Opposite feelings apply.

Ejay is one of the six cylinder fleet.  Hubnut Ian did a review of it on YouTube if you search.  I think his main complaint was the windscreen wipers were smeary.

I have had that E32 for 13 years.

Have you considered that the accompanying doo on my plate might be green!

Whatever it is, it seems to be far more at home in a nappy than on a plate of food!

More cars before work today!

I collected the XM today which has been MOTed without any issues.

The more interesting was the car I took over for a booked MOT, the Sebring convertible has not been used for a year. It has had a history of a faulty factory immobiliser and if it does not disengage you can manually lock and unlock with the key and it starts fine. Before booking it yesterday I checked it would start ok and there was no problem. Today it took multi attempts and eventually it just worked. I have a replacement ECU, ignition barrel, sensor and key, you should have seen the look on my favourite garages face when I asked them to fit the replacement immobiliser!

It felt a bit stiff and bumpy as if had just been woken up when we left home and I am a bit concerned that maybe a shock absorber is not working or bushes getting old it did not ride as smooth as I remember.

I replaced the wiper blades thinking of a member of this forum who is obsessed with them and now it is a wait and see what they find game.

It’s a little better in the metal, but in a photo it does look like that aftermarket stuff you used to be able to buy in rolls.

I suppose it's a little more likely to prevent damage perched up there than sitting in the crease 6" below but it's not doing the looks any favours.

We had a friend stay last night and he has two st205 Toyota GT4s, but he arrived in has new Yaris GR last night. As ugly as it is ever since they were announced I have wanted one. Completely reengineered to form a basis for a rally car, but never used. To me it seems a very special car and nothing to do with the current crop of new cars.

I know burn the heretic!

I don't like much in  the way of moderns. Those Yaris GRs are instant future classic status though. Every review I've read on them has raved positivity.

Coming from someone who's owned a Corolla T Sport 190 and a Carlos Sainz ST 185, I'd love to own one.

Want.

Can't imagine using one as a daily as I imagine the ride in particular is bloody uncomfortable, they sound like epic fun as a weekend toy though.
