What Mrs6C is referring to is should the two Daimlers. MGB GT and 1970 Triumph Vitesse be counted as BL vehicles?

Jan 17th 1968 wiki says BL started so I'd say yes too. In my mind though the XJ6 Sovereigns weren't 'proper' Daimlers, last of those was the DS 420, imho.

First evening Classic car gathering of the year and I took the Alfa156 for the joy of driving it.

Good news the Mini Mayfair and MG Metro became eligible for free Road tax this April. Saturday they had their tax class's changed and taxed at a local post office. They still showed as still on SORN  all weekend, but this morning they show now as taxed.

A friend lent me a garage for the Metro where it has been hiding all winter, it was put away as a good running car so I am hopeful all is well.

The Mini was woken up 10 days ago and started easily and ran well in my field but we did not take it out because it was on SORN. The next job on the Mini is to fit new insulation and the interior back into the car.

I want to line up the 4 BL cars we have 1968 Morris 1300, 1976 VP1500, 1984 Austin Mini Mayfair and 1984 MG Metro this summer. The stuff of Horror movies!

In date or size order?

Or one of each?

I know the MGB came to market in 1962 it was part of BMC and it used a version of the B series engine. To me it always felt separate from the Longbridge/Oxford built cars, being built in Abingdon with no Austin/Morris badged variants.

How to scare your Vauxhall Carlton!

Don't worry it was just delivering the cut up Ami body.

Drive it Day

My current lack of mobility led me to the decision to stay local with a car off the drive.

As we joined the South Midlands Citroen group we took a Citroen, the ZX TD Estate and convoyed with two Citroen DSs. It was only 25 miles on a great country route to Weedon Depot where a Drive it day classic car meeting with all sorts of cars visited.

Today with @Slowsilver help I put some cars away and SORNed some cars ready to get out some free tax classics.

Citroen XM, Vauxhall Carlton Estate, Mercedes E320 Coupe are now resting.

We also put a new float chamber gasket on the VP1500 and checked the Mini will start for Sundays Mini meeting.

Last drive of the Carlton today and the fan belt snapped!

I should sell it really because of the £360 road tax.

For the second time this week against his own rules @Slowsilver came to help me with my cars today.

First we got the Daimler Sovereign S1 out of storage, I said it would drive straight out of storage. It seemed I lied as we had to move the Mazda 323 first. It started easily after a scare when the fuel pump did not kick on first time turning on the ignition. Tyre pressures checked, oil took 1 Litre to get it from min to max and a pint of antifreeze coolant.

Next was the Mini Mayfair preparing the Mini for Sunday morning. We added fuel, checked tyre pressures and cleaned the windows.

The plan is to go to a Milton Keynes classic car meeting at there new venue 5:30pm Friday evening with the Daimler.

Brewery Tap House, 17 Twizel Close, Stonebridge, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

Saturday morning I plan to join MK Modern Classics again with the Daimler at there usual Breakfast meet 9:30am at the Rose and crown Ridgemont.

Sunday 9:30am the plan is to take the Mini Mayfair to Milton Keynes Mini meet at Mursley Farm shop. (Classic Mini and Bini)

The MK groups are non brand specific. I am sure the Mini group will welcome anybody with a bit of Mini interest if anybody wants to meet up.

im quite tempted to gate crash this with REV and see how many people think Im @Zelandeth  but I think I'd be pushing time too much (I still need to fit the head lamp relay kit to REV before i'd be comfortable driving about after dark outside the city, as I dont trust the wiring not to melt otherwise, the voltage drop when I turn the head lamps on currently is quite considerable... down to about 9.5V-10V last I checked) but maybe if @Mrs6C put on a fake moustache she  could too play the part with Her Model 70?

Interesting choice of venue for a car meet up, assuming it's the same as the rest of the units up there (we get some dog stuff from one just along the road) they really don't exactly have a lot of parking available.
