I have checked hoping for a orange bulb without any luck as I thought I could tape it back in and keep using it. I found the other indicator unit in the boot but fitting clip is broken.

I think there are orange chromed bulbs in there too. I did what you’ve done last time it fell orf. Ordered a new set and went back to find the lost one. Carparts fr less about £12 a pair

That’s inflation for you! Receipt for mine will be in the wallet.

There are two broken wire sticking out of the missing indicator hole that look like they have been like that for a while. Any ideas what they are for ? @richardmorris

I took the 230TE to a small car gathering in Milton Keynes this morning, it was an absolute joy to take out. I think it just looks great and somehow old Mercedes just suit me so well.

Yes it is a running project but this morning I forgave it its blowing exhaust and all its other issues.

You could be right, I have just been out there and the repeater is not working.

Presumably it was for the mot! I have no idea if you’re missing a connector though, compare with the other side.

Correction, I think they are supposed to be wired into the secondary plug on the back of the headlamp connector. Brown to brown. Looks like the back piece will unclip.

I take it you mean the indicator unit not the headlight?

No, that headlamp connector is two in one. The front bit to the headlamp bulb, and the plastic bit on the back is the connector for the side repeater wiring. Sorry, I’m not good at exposing things especially after a Sunday evening.

Is the headlight connector not 3 plate pins not two round ones?

I assumed you had the bulb and bulb holder in place in the indicator unit!

Yes, but it blew the bulb bouncing on the ground.

Ok. Forget the bits that fell off. What is left on the car needs rewiring. The exposed wires need refitting to the back of the main two pin connector- I said I’d cable tied this together - looks like that broke the  wing repeater wiring when the lamp unit fell off. The new unit you have bought will have the headlamp holder.

I now understand how the repeater plug pushes into the plug for the indicator unit. My wires for the repeater have been broken off the plug. I need to search for my soldering iron and order some dry weather to re-solder the wires to the pins.

That looks ok. I think I confused matters by referring to the headlamp connector, when I meant bulb connector.

Wanted SHIPPING CONTAINER!

We need some more water proof storage at the FoD and are giving consideration to a 40 ft shipping container. I am shocked at the price which seems to start at £2250.

Anybody know of a less expensive shipping container for sale bearing in mind it will have to be transported to Milton Keynes area. Consideration could be given to a 20ft container if the price was right.

Isn’t that @trigger? I don’t think he’ll be able to get one in the boot of a Dolly Sprint and get it past security.

surely this is a good excuse to buy yourself a nice Train carriage and flog the seats on the Facebook to recuperate the cost? :)

Have you thought of a old lorry body instead? Or Artic trailer box? I don’t think shipping containers come much cheaper than the one you’ve found.

They are very popular for storage as its easy to make one a lot more secure than the average shed.

Many years ago when I worked for a company in Llandudno the contract they had stipulated that all samples ( soil and water) had to be kept refrigerated so they bought a trailer box fridge unit and had it wired in.

Wasn't there some kerfuffle recently about there being a huge shortage of them as well? Which may have had an impact on prices.

Posted

It is me who drives the crane but apart from moving them all day long I haven't got any experience in buying them, they are very expensive now, my dad sold a rotten 40fter that was full of holes recently and that went for over a grand and it was a utter turd.

Lorry bodys are what the farmer used to build his extra storage due to the price of containers a good few years ago.

Containers have gone way up now so this probably knocks lorry bodys up.

Downside is that they are wooden floors but they usually have a fibreglass roof so nice and light inside, less prone to sweating inside and usually a roller shutter door.
