I'm disappointed that page 504 doesn't feature the 504...

I will correct that when I get home.

Right now I am broken down in Tesco car park!

Then I suppose you will want me to buy a 505 when I start page 505 in my thread!

Turns over but won't start. Mrs6C says it has happened to her after a short journey it will not start again until it is properly cold.

Well seeing as you offered...

I'm looking forward to page 512.

It's freezing today, hopefully it won't take long for it to cool.

Buy some packs of ice to put over whatever needs to be cold before it starts again?

That sounds like something electrical failing, which needs sorting before it leaves you completely stranded...

So you just needed to take longer shopping and you'd have been alright!

Looks like talbots volunteered to fix it though so no worries there 👌

Is that the definition of "volunteered" that I'm not familiar with?

As Mrs6C suggested 40mins later it just started.

If it's the green fuel pump relay there's a spare in the boot of the coupe.

An excessively large ham roll later and the brain is working again.

There had been some stray pops while cranking and that suggested the spark was going astray, distributor cap, rotor arm or HT leads so I took the cap off. The HT leads and cap look very dirty outside but ok inside. When I took the cap off the culprit was staring me in the face, the rotor arm has tracking lines and a burnt end.

Now the reason I was driving the 200TE to go shopping rather than the Volvo V70 T5 as planned. The Volvo had a flat battery and seems to have a fault where sometimes it leaves it's footwell light on. It has been ok lateley and only sat unused for a week.

On the subject of flat batteries I drove the 480 into our garage Friday and now that has a flat battery as well.

Your own fault for using a modern!

It feels that way I have been driving W124s on & off since 1999. This one is now 33 years old.

On one of Phil Chidlow's curated 'challenges' in 2022, just weeks after Pete Sparrow had completed a 720cc conversion.  2500 miles around France was obviously the best* way to run in the new motor...

The weather was unseasonably warm for late May, and the Dyane was reluctant to start when hot.  In the pic, I had made the basic error of pausing at the top after a long run up the Gorges de l'Ardeche in 30deg temps! That bag of ice is trying to cool down various parts of the fuel system to stop the French 95-octane unleaded vaporising.

It worked... sort of!  Sticking to 98 Super made a difference.

First year in France in 1979 my dad filled up the brand new Dyane with the cheapest petrol which turned out to be 2*. It was not at all happy.

A nice venue to visit. I have been a few times, last time was last year with Richard Morris's Merecdes E320 Coupe.

It is too soon for me to plan which events I am attending next year.

Yesterday while out in our V70 @hairnet asked if I had ever had a Volvo 850 and I couldn't remember if the other Volvos I had of that shape were V70s or 850s. The answer is I have had two 850, one a GLT 2.5 20v Auto and the other an S 2.5 10v manual.

Yes at one time we had his and hers Volvo estates, I had 170bhp and Mrs6C had 240bhp!

I did also have another V70 of this shape, a 2.5 10v Auto.
