Heidel_Kakao Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 It must be nice to have owned a car for that long and had it available on the road for use. I like the idea of being able to bimble down to the shops in an E-type to pick up a pint of milk. purplebargeken 1

Heidel_Kakao Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 But you will need to get yourself a couple of miniature Poodles to replace those Grey hounds of yours! Six-cylinder Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 Another Good and bad day Good the LNA drives and I got it home! Bad because: • The new anti roll bar bushes will not fit so we have had to refit the old ones, which are in good order. • The window support channel I got has the wrong width for the lift wheels to run in. • The steering wheel is breaking up and we went to change it for the one on my spares MK1 Visa and it did not fit as there is no self cancelling on the early Visa. • Beko polishing part of the bonnet sent my coffee sliding off! HMC Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I was manager of a Motor Parts shop when I bought it 35 years ago as a project.I love that picture, was it originally old English white? Six-cylinder 1
beko1987 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Even now the beading is still there where you have been! Its quite annoying as I wasn't expecting that, just did it to see what would happen. Then spent all of the next day on the lesser zx... Next year! Get it's current paint job blown over with clear and I'll shine it up Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 I love that picture, was it originally old English white? It was white with red leather and I had it painted in 1986 red and trimmed it in tan. 1966 - 1986 white 1986 - 2017 red
Six-cylinder Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 I am not sure if I ever told the result of the Stag story. Back in February my brother offered me his Stag that had been off the road for 10 years. (Page 43 post 1280) I bought it with my friend Derek and today we went to see what we had bought. We have got the front wheels to turn after taking the brake pad pins out. The rear wheels are jammed and we don’t know how to release them as we can’t get at the adjusters, we have tried a club hammer. The engine turned with the plugs out using grips on the front pulley but locked at one point. You could back it off and it would also stick backwards. We removed the rocker covers but could not see anything wrong, then turning the crank with the grippes it just kept turning and all seemed well. My theory is there was a value stuck and it freed so the engine turned fine. We then used the starter and it spins over freely pumping up oil pressure. There may be a noise from the starter but it seems to work fine. Next stage is to drain the stale fuel and get the SU fuel pump working. Sudsprint, SiC, Dirk Diggler and 9 others 12
Six-cylinder Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 The Stag and BX GTi sit side by side waiting to see which is first out of the starting block, but today the BX jumped ahead after the new metal heater pipe was fitted that Ruffgezzer got me and all seems well. I gave it a short test drive on a private unmade road and I feel confident enough to book it an MOT near home, 30 miles away and drive it there. I even gave it a wash, so now I just need to sort out the logistics of getting it to the MOT station. dome, DVee8, Bear and 21 others 24

Six-cylinder Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 Sad Day! I have said Good Bye to my Rover 114 SLi and left it all alone in a storage yard.

Six-cylinder Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 My brain just can't compute the one-car driveway photo. Just catching up a bit here. Those Bond pics are incredible! The Sovereign was the outcast than nobody wanted at a Citroen show, but at the end of the day a couple of guys who helped me get Citroens home wanted a ride in it, so it did make it to the show ground.

Ghosty Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 There are worse things to be letting go of than a glorified Metro!
Six-cylinder Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 The S1 Sovereign is progressing slowly, the latest hiccup being no n-s mainbeam and no o-s head light working. I ending up calling the auto electrician and the short looms that serve each of the headlights and side light/indicator units are in a right state with broken wires and duff earth. I am now having made replacement looms before we try again. Mrs6C, alf892 and Sudsprint 3
Six-cylinder Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 My Lancia Gamma now has new rear shock absorbers. They are waiting for front brake pads to be delivered and a new fuel pump. I dropped off my Mercedes 200TE for MOT today as I plan to use it this winter. I collected my Vitesse with a fresh MOT today. They also sorted the poor running that turned out to be large flakes of silver paint in the fuel line between the Mech pump and carbs. It runs very nicely now.The other problem I had was a power on, power off twitch in the handling. They found this as well, it turned out to be a spilt in a rear outrigger where the radius arm attaches, not rusty just badly made.It is filthy and I am taking it the Bicester Scramble on Sunday – Where is Beko when you need him!
