Right. I think we'd better start gaining some feedback here rather than lose everything in the discussion thread. Let's not try and clutter this up with discussion unless it's relevant to these options. I think Shitefest North should be seen as a separate exercise - I hope I can make it as I quite fancy a roadtrip! This is just thoughts on a joint effort between Mat_the_cat and myself for Shitefest Cymru II.

Nothing is set in stone other than the dates of the 2CV 24hr race if folk want to go to that - August 21/22. If I'm involved, then I'd prefer August, but if Llangollen gets the vote, then I can leave it all up to Mat. ;)

Option 1

Just do what we did last year - in the field behind a hotel in Devil's Bridge, mid-Wales. Huge hardstanding and room for many tents. Or strange men sleeping in cars. Minimal cost per unit as there are barely any facilities.

Option 2

Museum in Llangollen which Mat_the_cat has staked out. Official response from museum. "Our field offers extremely limited camping and pretty basic facilities but there is excellent camping at Abbey Farm about half a mile away. For anyone brave enough to take a chance with we charge £5 a night. Admission for groups is £3.50 adults and £3 seniors. Parking on the field is free and you sound like our sort of people."

Option 3

2CV 24hr on Anglesey. Option 2 could be used as a staging post or we could all just head to the small island atop Wales. There may be track time available but actual facts are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. I'm working on it.

Option 4

If you'll attend no matter what, this one is for you. Alternatively, I have allowed multiple choice if you fancy one or more of the above options.

Where does it say that we can only have one Shitefest a year? ;-)

Nowhere, which is why this is a poll for the Welsh options. ;) I hope we do have more Shitefests. The northern one sounds ace. "Couldn't give a toss" is way in the lead at the moments, so perhaps it just needs to happen! Same as last year not getting many fans, so perhaps folk share my concern about returning to the venue of a previously-enjoyable event. We'll see how it's shaping up tomorrow.

OPTION 4

(apologies if there's a poll, flapatalk won't show it).

There is. I hadn't voted, but I now have on your behalf.

I've gone for option 2 as reading stuff in the other thread the museum sounds OK and very happy to have a bunch of random cars and blokes about.

This all said no idea if I can actually make it and break my autoshite virginity but I'll do my best so long as it's not at the end of May as I'm on holiday

Pants. I've just realised that the 2CV event falls on the same w/e as RRG (again!) and as I'm a sad blu fanboi I shall be at Shelsley regardless. So I shall have to withdraw my offer of camping space in 'my' meadow 10 mins from the track. :-(

Please don't shout at me.

When the museum says limited camping do they mean limited space or limited facilities? I don't really care about the facilities but limited space could be a concern.

I voted 4 but I'd be quite happy to go to Devil's Bridge again, it was as close to perfect as a venue can get.

My vote is absolutely pointless as I will be there wherever or whenever it/they are held. Just please don't have too many different events 'cos hitch-hiking and boat-hiking backwards and forwards from wherever the hell I happen to be could become a bit of a ball-ache.

I was thinking that it needed someone (Ian) to firm up dates and venues so that we wouldn't be walking round in circles for months, so kudos for doing this DW.

DO IT DO IT DO IT.

I broke my 'virginity' at last years 'fest and I couldn't have enjoyed it more, plus I'm from Skelmanthorpe so if nowt else you'll have the reassuring cross-Yorkshire banter/abuse fired at you from at least this angle. COMFORTING.

I`ve gone for Llangollen. Just hope that I`ll be able to make it wherever it is - I`m expecting to have my second new knee this summer, so that`ll be six weeks minimum unable to drive. Seeing the surgeon on the 6th of May...

Get the train to somewhere.  One of us will pick you up.

Indeed. Barefoot managed to attend last year by being in the passenger club.

I think that was Bucket Ear.

He was in the Scirocco wasn't he?

Correct, but I challenged myself by sitting in the left hand seat whilst making the journey.

My vote goes for Llangollen as I can stay at the parents in Wrexham! Also the railway is great.

Llangollen isn't that far and I'm lazy.

And proud of it! Running old cars means I can afford the finer things in life- like hot water and indoor plumbing :-)

Sod tents. I'll be kipping in the car, Cock Gear style.

^^this is a mini problem for me. I would want to take a fiesta but I can't sleep in it. Can sleep in the Frontera but that's a bit boring

Wherever's chosen is at least a four hour drive for me.

So move to somewhere less Pikey ;)

We definitely need an Eastern Shitefest at some point, to even things out.
