A Cavalier Approach

I alluded that there was to be a new addition to my fleet and here it is...

Big thanks to my Pa who gave up his Saturday morning to ferry me to Ipswich, being a former Griffin botherer himself I knew he couldn't resist!

What's it's story then? Well, the vendor had owned the 1.7td LS for 12 years. Apart from a mis-matched petrol flap (oo-er) and a gaffer taped expansion tank (top bodging, will get a pic pronto) tis in fairly fine shape.

127 fahsand miles young, cambelt only 5k old, fresh fluids and MOT until June.

Due to it being diesely affluent and my Dad being in a rush to get home no petrol stations were stopped at in the making of this collection.

But,

Our speedy* drive home was without incident, didn't expect any less to be honest from the newest car I've ever owned.

Back at HQ, looking forward to buffing that scratch out of the bumper and reattaching my boot badge.

Would like to source some proper LS Cavalier wheel trims for it, apparently it was on alloys originally but they all leaked and caused perenial punctures so were swapped by the previous owner

Once driven, currently smitten.

I like the look of this - I loved my old Cavalier. Until it got nicked one night.

Fantastic... Mk 3 Cavs are probably the best cars of EVAR, and their owners automatically become WINNARS as soon as the V5 in filled in with their details.

If you find the gear ratios are too long for your taste, the close-ratio F18 cr or F20 boxes from the SRi / GSi will fit.

Wonderful! Just to let you know, this engine and pump are absolutely spot on with alternative* fuels  :-D

Would these 14" Vauxhall be of interest?  Sent to me in error by a vendor that won't reply to any messages to try and rectify the issue.  Yours for the cost of postage, which is going to be in the region of £10-15.  They look brand new, I doubt they've ever been fitted to a car.

Nice. They did indeed hurl alloys on pretty much the entire range at the end of Cavalier production.

I seem to recall 'LS' 'Envoy' and 'Classic' models didn't get alloys as standard, but did get some snazzy* wear thin very quickly front seats. Don't forget you can muck about with the boost on these for a better turn of speed, and once spooled up they go quite well anyhow.

Another 90s Vauxhall.  Fab.  I've sent you a PM about the wheeltrims Vulgalour.

Thankee y'all, I'm glad I grabbed it.

Cavcraft - Spot on re: The fragile seat front, the vendor wasn't a big lad yet the driver seat looks like it's been the only seat in the Golightly's* house (*see Beadle's About)

Vulgalour - Them trims is WIN! Precisely the ones I could visualise. I'd be all over them fo' sho, thank you very much. PM me your payment preference & I'll get reet on it. Fanx again.

I reckon they are 13" too, from an early Astra Mk3 (F) pre facelift, so about 91-93 or something like that.  Is the Cav 13"?  I suppose it could be.  Well, perhaps I am wrong on all counts!  I have an early Astra so am v interested.

If I am wrong and either the trims are 14" or the car is 13" I suggest you send them by courier as a fraction of the price of the Royal Mail (sadly).  PM me if you want website addresses and so on.

I think VulgaVelour tried them on his (13 inch) Corsa wheels and they were too big.

Well, you learn something everyday, right?

I will just have to fill and paint mine!

The inner fitting ring is 13", the outer face is 14 3/4".  So I guess they are 13" after all, clearly I had the dumb when I measured them and assumed the face would be somewhere near the wheel size they were destined for.  I never actually tried to put them on the Corsa, even if I had I wouldn't because they're not the trims I paid for.

M'Coli**  Semi-C still has first dibs if they're suitable.  If not I shall provide details to Lisbon_road via PM.

**really do have the dumb, I meant to type Semi-C and put M'Coli instead.  Herpaderp.

I agree with you about the Envoy which had fan style trims and the Classic which had the same trims as fitted to Corsa B SRis, but I'm sure M and N plate LS' had "dogleg" 5 spoke alloys.

The wheels on my Cav are 14 inchers.

Sans trims it puts me in mind of an undercover Police steed...

Check out this SEX BOMB.  It's the last Cav made and on the 14" Astra-F facelift wheel trims.  Most late ones came with the 5-spoke alloys though I think.

I have 3 steel wheels on top of my garage and a set of expression alloys (as in the same as Nova Gsi 8 spoke 14inch) in the shed.  195/60 x 14 tyres? You get JUST squeeze Gsi Brakes under a 14 inch wheel.

Those trims are correct for a Classic, by '94ish the LS upwards had alloys but the Classic was Envoy based. My Classic had Mk4 Astra CD alloys.

I'd leave the wheeltrims off for the 1998 CID look tbh but well bought!
